MPL National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2022 preview

About 125 players have already registered for MPL National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2022. Due to Covid-19, the tournament could not take place for the last two years. Since all National events were had faster time controls, there were no separate National Rapid and Blitz Championships. The tournament will have a total prize fund ₹650,000. The prize fund for Rapid will be ₹400,000, the first prize being ₹75000. For Blitz event, total prize fund is ₹250,000, first prize ₹50000. Apart from the prizes, the winner of each event will earn a spot at World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2022. India no.2 GM Vidit Gujrathi invites you to take part in this event which starts in a week. Vidit invites you to Nashik

Nashik might be known for various reasons but for chess players, it is known as the hometown of India no.2 GM Vidit Gujrathi. He will not be playing the tournament. However, he will certainly make it a point to visit the event. ChessBase India's cofounders IM Sagar Shah and Amruta Mokal, both will be present at the venue to bring you detailed coverage of the event.

National Rapid Chess Championship will take place from 27th to 29th April 2022

Three rounds are there each day

National Blitz Chess Championship will take place on 30th April 2022.

The entire National Blitz Chess Championship will take place on 30th April 2022

Prizes

MPL National Rapid has a total prize fund of ₹400000 and MPL National Blitz has a total prize fund of ₹250000.

Time Control

The rate of play shall be 15 minutes with an increment of 10 seconds additional time per move, starting from move number one for Rapid Tournament and 3 minutes with increment of 2 seconds additional time per move, starting from move number one for Blitz Tournament.
