Maharashtra State Schools witness over 600 participants

Total 605 players from various districts of Maharashtra participated in this Maharashtra State Schools Selection FIDE Rating Tournament in four-day age group rating tournament held between 27th and 30th August at Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Total 24 players (top two from each group) qualified for the upcoming National Schools Championship 2019 which will also be held in the same city and organized by the same organizer Grandmaster Chess Foundation. The tournament was inaugurated by Minister of State for Industry Mr. Atul Save. Also present on the occasion were University senate member Pankaj Bharsakhale, Sudhir Naik, Prof. Dr. Sandip Jagtap, AMCA Secretary Vijay Deshpande, Chief Arbiter Vitthal Madhav.

More than one thousand people attended the prize distribution ceremony. Well known Industrialist Mr. Pradeep Dhut and Operations head of Lokmat group Mr. Karan Darda were chief guests. Also present on the Dias were AMCA Secretary and tournament director Mr. Vijay Deshpande, AMCA treasurer Mr. Rajendra Konde, Secretary of Grandmaster Chess Foundation Dr. Manisha Deshpande, Chief Arbiter Mr. Vitthal Madhav, Well known coach Mr. G. Balaji, Mr. Ganesh Deshpande and Mr. Lekh Mithawala.

Total 24 players were selected for National Schools Championship and 250 prizes were given to the prize winners. The tournament took place at Saptapadi Mangal Karyalaya, Aurangabad from 27th to 30th August 2019.
