Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi wins 1st Anjanibai Deshbhratar Rapid Rating Open 2023

Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi and FM Vedant Panesar scored 8.5/9 each at 1st Anjanibai Deshbhratar Rapid Rating Open 2023. Third seed of the event, Aakash won the tournament due to better tie-breaks and the top seed Vedant was placed second. Anirudhha Potawad and Harshal Patil scored 8/9 each. They were placed third and fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. Aakash and Vedant did not face each other. However, Aakash defeated the eventual second runner-up Anirudhha in the penultimate round. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. Aakash's first Rating tournament triumph of the year

Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi has won one rapid open tournament and four podium finishes - runner-up to be exact in the year 2023. However, a first place finish in a rating tournament was alluring him, until Sunday 23rd April 2023. Three players - Aakash, FM Vedant Panesar and Sanjeev Mishra were the leaders 7.5/8, heading into the final round. Aakash defeated Sanjeev and Vedant won against Ketan Boricha. Both Aakash and Vedant ended up having the same score 8.5/9 each. However, Aakash won the event due to better tie-break score.

The organizers gave free entries to 75 children of the nearby municipal schools, MCA and AICF registration fees were also paid on their behalf.

A total of 483 players participated from various states across the country. The one-day nine-round Swiss league Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Children of the World (India) Trust at Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj School Auditorium in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra on 23rd April 2023. The time control for the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment from move no.1.
