Visakh N R triumphs at 21st Bois Colombes Master 2024
GM Visakh N R, IM Lucas Di Nicolantonio (FRA) and IM Kirill Klukin scored 7/9 each at 21st Bois-Colombes Master Open A (≥1950) 2024. Visakh won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining two IMs were placed second and third respectively. Visakh drew with both runners-up and he was the only one among them to remain undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament combining three category was €7400. The top three prizes in Open A were €1200, €800 and €500 along with a trophy each respectively. Visakh ends 2024 on a high note
Three players - GM Visakh N R, IM Kirill Klukin and IM Lucas Di Nicolantonio (FRA) were sharing the lead 6.5/8 each, going into the final round. Visakh drew with Kirill to become the champion, Kirill finished third. Lucas shared the point with IM Jakob Leon Pajekin (GER) to secure second place. This was a record-breaking edition for the tournament as 539 players - 129 in Open A (≥1950) , 228 in Open B (1600-2000) and 182 in Open C (≤1700) participated from 30 countries across the world.
A total of 129 players including a GM, 11 IMs and five WIMs took part from 19 countries across the world in the Open A (≥1950) category. The five-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Cercle d'Echecs de Bois-Colombes at Albert Smirlian Sports Complex in Bois-Colombes, France from 26th to 30th December 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
