Avinash's first triumph of the year

IM Avinash Ramesh made a blazing start by scoring a double hat-trick of wins and gaining a full point lead over the competition. He drew the next two games and lost the final round against the eventual second runner-up, IM Sebastien Joie (FRA). However, the loss did not affect his championship chances. FM Christophe Gelas (FRA) won against Felix Borne (FRA) to finish second.

A total of 76 players including four IMs took part from nine countries across the world in this seven-day nine round Rating Open Main (>1800) tournament. It was organized by Club Echecs Agglomération Chambérienne at Centre des Congres le Manege in Chambery, France from 29th July to 4th August 2024. The time control of the event was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
