M.S Nawin wins the 13th Modern School Fide Rated Chess Tournament

M.S. Nawin clinched the 13th Modern School Fide-rated chess tournament, scoring a perfect 7/7. 3 players tied for second place with 6.5/7- Ashwin Sairam, Lukesh A, and Vignesh Kannan P. The tournament took place from 12th-15th August, with a 90+30 time control.  Nawin was the second-highest-rated player in the event, and he increased his rating by 32 points with this victory. A dominating performance

M.S. Nawin scored 7 victories back-to-back in this 7 round classical tournament. He won the first prize of rs. 25,000. His best win was against the tournament's top seed, Vignesh N. in the last round. Both of them were tied with 6/6 after the penultimate round, this game decided the champion of the tournament. 

The young school kid scored 7/7 with a performance rating of 2151, increasing his rating by 32 points.

Nawin's parents, tournament organizers, IM Vaishali Rameshbabu, and Nawin himself stand together with the trophy for a nice picture.

Nawin is currently a student in the Velammal Vidyalaya west. The tournament was held in Modern Senior Secondary School, Nanganallur, Chennai. The time control of the event was 90 minutes+30 seconds, and it s was held from 12th-15th August 2022. A total of 441 players participated in the event. Mr. Ravichandran V. was the tournament director, and IA Vijayakumar Manickavasagam was the chief arbiter of this tournament.
