15th Chennai GM Open R7: Sammed smashes Fedorov

The top board clash between GM Sayantan Das and IM Aronyak Ghosh ended in a draw quickly. GM Siddharth Jagadeesh (SGP) had to share the point with IM Kaustuv Kundu in Round 7 of 15th Chennai GM Open 2025. Vijay Shreeram P missed his opportunity against GM Iniyan Pa. IM Sammed Jaykumar Shete capitalized on his opponent, GM Alexei Fedorov's mistake. Iniyan and Sammed are now coleaders 7/8. They will inevitably clash against each other in Round 8. Kartavya Anadkat scored a fine victory over GM Evgeniy Podolchenko. A total of eleven players are currently trailing the leaders by a half point at 5.5/7 each. Round 8 starts today at 10 a.m. IST.

Instead, the game continued 19.a5 Ba6 20.Ra4 Nd5 GM Iniyan Pa (2508) managed to alleviate the pressure and eventually turn things around in his favor after White made a few mistakes in the endgame.
