Sairudra Nagvekar wins Rotary All Goa Rapid Rating Open 2022

14-year-old Sairudra Nagvekar scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Rotary All Goa Rapid Rating Open 2022. Sairudra defeated Devendra Anand Naik in the final round. He was at 8/8 then. Even after a final round loss, Devendra finished second due to better tie-break score. 13-year-old Netra P Savaikar who also scored 8/9 and remained undefeated, was placed third. The top three prizes were ₹11000, ₹8000 and ₹5000 along with a trophy each respectively. Aimchess Rapid QF: Carlsen wins the Tour with a tournament to spare

Arjun Erigaisi had a decisive advantage for the better part against Carlsen in their first game of Aimchess Rapid Quarterfinals. The world champion managed to save the game after the teenager missed few good opportunities. The world no.1 won the next two games to win the match, advance to the Semifinal and win Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season with a tournament to spare. Both Vidit and Gukesh started the day with a draw against Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Richard Rapport respectively. Vidit lost the next games, whereas Gukesh won the second and then went down in the two games. Arvinder Preet Singh clinches XIX Calvia Amateur Open 2022

Arvinder Preet Singh scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win XIX Calvia Amateur Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. The former World Amateur champion drew with the eventual runner-up Paul A Hutchinson (ENG) 7/9 and defeated the second runner-up, FM Juan David Becerra (COL) 7/9. This is his first tournament triumph since November 2018 when he won the National Amateur championship. The total prize fund of the tournament was €5720. Aimchess Rapid R13-15: Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi and Vidit Gujrathi advance to the Quarterfinals

Vidit Gujrathi finally broke his jinx. He defeated David Anton Guijarro in the final round of Prelims to advance to the Quarterfinals of a Meltwater Champions Chess Tour event for the very first time. Also, thanks to Arjun Erigaisi's win over Anish Giri, that played a key role in Vidit securing his spot in the Knockout stage. FIDE World Cup 2021 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda scored 28/45 to claim the pole position of Aimchess Rapid Prelims. The unfortunate incident of Priyanka Nutakki at the World Juniors 2022

Priyanka Nutakki was the top rated Indian player at the World Junior Championships 2022 in the girls section. The event is taking place in Sardinia, Italy from the 11th to 23rd of October 2022. Something quite unfortunate happened with her. After winning her sixth round game and reaching a score of 5.0/6, Priyanka's result against her opponent was overturned and she was expelled from the tournament. What happened? Raunak Sadhwani dominates 3rd La Nucia Open 2022

GM Raunak Sadhwani scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win 3rd La Nucia International Open 2022. He finished a full point ahead of the field. In the final round, he scored a smashing victory against Spain no.7 GM Daniil Yuffa in just 20 moves. GM Karen Grigoryan (ARM) and IM Ernesto J Fernandez Guilen (CUB) scored 7/9 each to secure second and third place respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament €11000. The top three prizes were €3000, €2000 and €1000 along with a trophy each. Raunak was the sole Indian participating in this edition and for the second consecutive year an Indian player won this event. GM S L Narayanan scored an unbeaten 7/9 to win Fagernes Autumn GM 2022. GM Abhimanyu Puranik and GM Anton Demchenko also scored the same. However, they were placed second and third according to tie-breaks. Top three prizes were €2400, €1600 and €800 each respectively. GM Sethuraman S P scored sole 6.5/9 to finish fourth. GM Praggnanandhaa and GM Sasikiran scored 6/9 each. They secured sixth and seventh place. IM Vaishali R and IM Padmini Rout scored 5/9 each. They shared the Best Woman prize. Aimchess Rapid R9-12: Gukesh becomes the youngest ever to win against the World Champion Carlsen

After Arjun Erigaisi, it was D Gukesh's turn to beat the world champion. He not only became the youngest player ever to beat Magnus Carlsen during his world championship reign, but also do it in just 29 moves. Gukesh, Arjun and Carlsen all three are currently tied at third spot 21/36. Jan-Krzysztof Duda has taken sole lead 25/36 as he defeated Vidit, Gukesh and Harikrishna in consecutive games before finishing the day with a draw against Nodirbek Abdusattorov. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is currently at sole second place 23/36. Both Gukesh and Arjun have great chances to advance to the Knockout stage. Round 13 starts tonight at 9:30 p.m. IST. Kunal wins 1st SRM Rapid Rating Open 2022 featuring 575 players

M Kunal, IM Harikrishnan A Ra and Ram S Krishnan tied at 7.5/8 each at 1st SRM Rapid Rating Open 2022. Kunal won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Harikrishnan and Ram were placed second and third according to tie-breaks. All three evidently remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹21000 and a trophy, ₹18000 and ₹15000 each respectively. World Junior 2022 R5: Leon Luke Mendonca and Prraneeth Vuppala reduce the gap

GM Leon Luke Mendonca scored an emphatic victory over IM Armen Barseghyan (ARM) in the fifth round of World Junior 2022 Open. IM Prraneeth Vuppala defeated FM Hugo de Melo Lux (BRA) with a very nice counter-attack. Both Leon and Prraneeth are now at a half point behind the leader 3.5/5 each. They will face each other in the sixth round. WGM Priyanka Nutakki played a steady game and defeated WFM Zsofia Gombocz (HUN) to move to 4/5. She is now just a half point behind the leaders and will face one of them, WGM Govhar Beydullayeva (AZE) in the sixth round. It starts today at 3:30 p.m. local time, 7 p.m. IST.
