Love to play the game of Chess? But have you ever given a thought to what the other side of the game looks like? Find out through this pictorial representation how different this game actually is from what we can see from the outside. Just like any other sport. Chess is highly competitive and it will test your mental toughness to the limit. Day in and day out you have to learn the art of dealing with extreme mental pressure and the more you become good at it, the better player you become. No matter how well prepared are you in the game, you will also need mental training to handle tense situations. You will meet players who will tell you that the position in their game was winning but they could not convert it. The reason may be sole because the opponent handled the situation in a better way. Tejas Bakre and Akash Ganesan relay the Chess Olympiad Torch from Dehradun to Meerut

The 11th Grandmaster of India, Tejas Bakre and the 66th GM of the country, Akash Ganesan relayed the Chess Olympiad Torch from Dehradun, Uttarakhand to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Tejas is the first GM from Gujarat. He is also one of the few FIDE Senior Trainers of India. He won a strong tournament in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 2017. Akash is the youngest National Senior champion of India. He won it at the age of 16 years. The Tamil Nadu GM is also a FIDE Trainer. He has won strong open tournaments in Austria and Prague International Chess Festival Open 2020 in Prague, Czech Republic. They both carried the Chess Olympiad Torch at Dehradun, Haridwar and Meerut. Manigandan triumphs at 31st CUSAT Rating Open Chess Tournament 2022

Starting out as the top seed, Manigandan S S scored an unbeaten 7.5/8. He finished a half point ahead of the field to win 31st CUSAT Rating Open 2022. Four players scored 7/8 each. They are - Arpith S Bijoy, Goutham Krishna H, Mithun Anand V and Abdallah M Nistar. 13-year-old Arpith and the reigning National Under-12 Open champion, Goutham were placed second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. Total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. Top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹25000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each. The tournament was held between 26th and 29th May 2022 at CUSAT Campus. Candidates 2022 R7: Fabulous Fabiano showcases fantastic technique

Fabiano Caruana is a thinking man's favorite to win Candidates 2022 for many reasons. If someone is not able to find any, they need to take a look at his seventh round win against Teimour Radjabov. He got an advantage, ensured his opponent does not get any opportunity to make a comeback. Then in time trouble, he showed a fantastic technique to win the game. Ian Nepomniachtchi won the other decisive game of the round without breaking much of a sweat. Himanshu Sharma passes the Chess Olympiad Torch to Prithu Gupta

The 47th Grandmaster of India, Himanshu Sharma, received the Chess Olympiad Torch at Brahm Sarovar, Kurukshetra. The man who has won various rating tournaments all over the country, brought the Torch to Panipat Museum at Panipat. Himanshu has a fantastic understanding of chess. He won a Fischer Random tournament in 2017 before winning the 50th Barbera del Valles GM Open. Haryana's first GM won that event before becoming a GM and finished ahead of many. India's 64th GM Prithu Gupta received the Torch at Shiv Nadar School, Gurugram. The 18-year-old became a GM in six years after he got his FIDE rating. Photo: AICF

Pranav Venkatesh earns his second GM-norm with a 3175 performance

The chess universe is well-acquainted with the strength of IM Pranav Venkatesh. He earned his second GM-norm by scoring seven consecutive victories at Vezerkepzo GM June 2022 with a rating performance of 3175. He also crossed 2500 in the live ratings in the process. The 15-year-old from Tamil Nadu did not slow down, instead he won his eighth round game too against strong Czech Republic no.8, GM Vojtech Plat. The teenager only drew his last round game to end the event with a score of 8.5/9. He finished a massive 1.5 points ahead of the field. This is his fourth tournament victory of the year. 13th Chennai GM Open R7-8: Nitin stays a full point ahead

IM Nitin S continues his amazing run. He registered his seventh consecutive victory by halting Vignesh B's unbeaten streak. Nitin drew the following game against GM Boris Savchenko, although he had a good opportunity in the endgame. Nitin is currently a full point ahead of the field 7.5/8 at 13th Chennai GM Open. Nine players are at 6.5/8 each. Prasannaa S is the sole untitled player among them. He will face the top seed in the penultimate round. IM P Konguvel scored a nice win against GM Tran Tuan Minh in Round 8. 12-year-old CM Daakshin Arun is the youngest player among the pursuers at 6.5 points. Round 9 starts today at 10 a.m. IST. GM Harika Dronavalli is pregnant with her first child. With the Olympiad happening in India, she has decided to play the Chennai chess olympiad in her 8th month of pregnancy! How is she preparing for the event? What are her thoughts on Team India's chances in the Olympiad? How is she managing all the different activities? Deep Sengupta relays the Chess Olympiad Torch from Dharamshala to Amritsar

The 22nd Grandmaster of India, Deep Sengupta, carried the Chess Olympiad Torch for two days. The three-times Hastings Masters winner travelled to five different cities. First he went to Dharamshala and Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday 22nd June. On the following day, 23rd June, he travelled to Chandigarh, Patiala and finally Amritsar at Attari Border, Wagah where he handed the Torch to Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar, Harpreet Singh Sudan, IAS. The Commonwealth Gold medalist shared in a tweet that he had an out of the world experience at the final destination. Photo: AICF

India wins 29 medals at Western Asia Youth Chess Championships 2022

India has won a total of 29 medals including 13 Gold, 10 Silver and 6 Bronze medals at Western Asia Youth Chess Championships 2022. Sahib Singh and Safin Safarullakhan won three Golds in all three formats - Classical, Rapid and Blitz in Under-14 Open and Under-8 Open categories each respectively. FM Harshad S won two Golds in Rapid and Blitz, a Bronze in Under-18 Open Classical. Reigning National Under-12 Open and Under-18 Girls champions, Goutham Krishna H and WFM Bhagyashree Patil won two Gold medals each. Hanya Shah won Gold, Silver and Bronze. Current National Under-12 Girls and National Amateur U-2000 Women champion, Shubhi Gupta won three Silver medals.

Candidates 2022 R6: Nepomniachtchi becomes 'The Shark'

It seems like Ian Nepomniachtchi took Carlsen's words, "Be a Shark!" seriously. He took his typical bold approach towards his sixth round game and won it convincingly. His opponent Duda could not manage to put up any resistance. Radjabov and Rapport had an interesting encounter. Just when it looked like Radjabov will end his Classical win drought, he missed his opportunity and the game ended in a draw. Nakamura launched a strong attack on Ding Liren's kingside. However, the World no.2 calmly defended his position without breaking a sweat. Firouzja imploded against Caruana. Today is a rest day. Pravin Thipsay brings the Chess Olympiad Torch from Srinagar to Jammu

The third Grandmaster in the Indian chess history is Pravin Thipsay. He is the first Indian to get a GM-norm. The Arjuna Awardee has won seven National titles and represented India at the Chess Olympiad for seven times. The revered coach and gentleman of the game has trained countless players who have won numerous medals for India. He is one of the few FIDE Senior Trainers in this country. Apart from inculcating knowledge and improving the strength of young talents, he also devotes his valuable time in creating trainers all over the country. Hikaru Nakamura might not have been completely winning against Ian Nepomniachtchi. However, if anyone got remotely close to upstaging the former World Championship Challenger, that would be the Speed King. The American later expressed regret in his analysis of not seizing his opportunity at the right moment. Fabiano Caruana had an interesting draw with Richard Rapport. Just when it seemed like there will be a decisive result, the game ended in a draw by repetition. 13th Chennai GM Open R4-6: Nitin emerges sole leader scoring a double hat-trick

IM Nitin S is in a fantastic form. He defeated GM Vahe Baghdasaryan (ARM) in the sixth round to become the sole leader 6/6 at 13th Chennai GM Open 2022. In the seventh round, he will face Vignesh B in an interesting battle between two in-form players. He is also having a great event 5.5/6. The 17-year-old drew with GM Alexei Fedorov, defeated GM Nguyen Van Huy (VIE), GM Laxman R R and IM Srijit Paul in consecutive games. Boris Savchenko is the only other player at 5.5/6. Mitrabha Guha wins Olympiad Torch Run Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2022

GM Mitrabha Guha along with five more players scored an unbeaten 7/7. Mitrabha won the Olympiad Torch Run Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2022 due to better tie-breaks. IM Dinesh Kumar Sharma and reigning Asian Junior Open Gold medalist, IM Raahul V S were adjudged second and third respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹1000000. Top three prizes were ₹100000, ₹60000 and ₹40000 cash each. About 1500 players took part in this historic event. First-ever Torch Relay for the 44th Chess Olympiad took place on the very same day.
