Divya - Beloslava: 1-0

IM Divya Deshmukh (2456) started with 1.c4. Her opponent, WGM Beloslava Krasteva (BUL, 2289) quickly transposed the opening to Dutch Defense. In the major piece endgame, the Bulgarian made an incorrect pawn break.

Position after 31...e5?

Black had an unpleasant position. She opted for 31...e5? to free up the position, instead it only made things worse. 32.dxe5 dxe5 fragmented Black's queenside pawn structure. 33.Rc5 e4 34.Qc4 Rd8 35.Kg2 e3 break did not have the desired effect. 36.fxe3 Qd2 37.Rxf5 even Kf2 was fine. 37...Qxe3 38.Rf3 Qe5 39.Rcf1 Rcc8 40.R1f2 White consolidated her position, used the extra pawn to her advantage and outplayed her opponent to win the game eventually.

Kazybek - Mamikon

Position after 45.Ng4

45...Rxg2 46.Nxf6 endgame is where only White can push for a win and Black has to play correctly to salvage a draw. Computer will say it is equal. However, in a practical game it is certainly not easy to defend, especially when you are fighting for Gold on the top board in the last round. Eventually, GM Mamikon Gharibyan (ARM, 2492) blundered and GM Kazybek Nogerbek (KAZ, 2502) won the game and the tournament.
