Danyyil Dvirnyy wins Florence Move 2019

Top seed of the tournament GM Danyyil Dvirnyy of Italy scored an unbeaten 4.5/5 to win the Master section of Florence Move 2019. IM Duilio Collutiis and FM Ivan Tomba scored 4.0/5 each. They were placed second and third. This is the largest chess tournament in Florence, Italy. Total 232 players participated from six different countries England, France, Italy, Russia, Spain and Sweden in eight different groups including Master, Junior, Blitz and various rating categories. The tournament was inaugurated by former Miss Toscana, Federica Bertolani. IM Arjun Kalyan and Pranav Venkatesh win Velammal Rapid and Blitz

IM Arjun Kalyan and untitled Pranav V surprised everyone by winning Velammal Rapid and Blitz with a score of 8.0/9 and 8.0/8 respectively. Starting out as the tenth seed Arjun remained unbeaten and scored upset victories of GM Karthikeyan Murali and GM Vishnu Prasanna. IM Rathanvel VS also scored 8.0/9, however due to a better tie-break score Arjun clinched the championship. Karthikeyan finished at third place by scoring 7.5/9 in the Rapid event. 13-year-old Pranav scored eight straight victories in Blitz to become champion. He beat GM Vishnu Prasanna and GM Deepan Chakkravarthy on his path to victory. Untitled Peter Anand of Pondicherry claimed sole second position with a score of 7.5/9. Superbet Rapid and Blitz: Aronian is the champion, Vishy steals the show on final day

Levon Aronian emerged as the champion of Romania Grand Chess Tour Superbet Rapid and Blitz 2019 and with that clinched his second tour victory of the year. The Armenian is therefore now in the optimal position to qualify for the London finals. Vishy Anand too pulled off a power packed performance in the last day of the event to finish third, just half a point behind Aronian and Sergey Karjakin. The Madras Tiger remained unbeaten in the concluding blitz rounds and scored three important wins against Fabiano Caruana, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, and the in-form Anton Korobov. Ranjith shines at 37th Bury St Edmunds Congress

Top seed of the tournament IM Richard Pert of England and IM Antonas Zapolskis of Lithuania scored an unbeaten 4.5/5 to finish joint first at 37th Bury St Edmunds Congress Open at Suffolk, England. They both received £265 each as their prize money got shared between them. FM Martin Walker scored 4.0/5 and finished at sole third position. He received £100 as cash prize. Total 170 players participated in the tournament from eleven different countries including India. Ranjith Rk of India scored an unbeaten 4.5/5 in the U140 category. Endgame Magic with Padmini Rout and Karsten Mueller

Dr. Karsten Mueller is an endgame legend. His knowledge in endgame play is impeccable. Twice or thrice in a month he has the Endgame Magic show with one of the well-known guests who visit the ChessBase office in Hamburg. On 6th November at 6.30 p.m. IST, Karsten's guest was four-time National Women's, Asian Continental Women's and only Indian woman to have ever won an individual Gold medal at Chess Olympiad IM Padmini Rout. Le Quang Liem dominates Superbet Blitz

While Anton Korobov clinched the Superbet Rapid title unbeaten, the blitz section of the tournament is now being dominated by another wild card, namely Le Quang Liem. The 28-year-old Vietnamese managed to beat the five-time World Champion Vishy Anand in the final rapid round of the event and emboldened by that victory went on to rampage through the first day of blitz rounds finishing a stunning 1.5 points ahead of the field. Levon Aronian and Sergey Karjakin were the next best performers of the day who finished with 5.5/9 and 5.0/9 points respectively. The Madras Tiger Vishy Anand and Anton Korobov too didn't disappoint and pulled off a decent 4.5/9 points each. In this report we bring you the details of first nine blitz rounds of the event.

Aradhya Garg and Srishti Pandey are the National Junior 2019 champions

Aradhya Garg of Delhi scored six consecutive victories in the last six rounds to win 49th National Junior open with a score of 9.0/11, beating three IMs in the last three rounds. Despite starting with a score of 3.0/5, Aradhya pulled off almost an unimaginable feat. In the girls section, Srishti Pandey of Maharashtra made a short draw in the final round win 34th National Junior girls with a score of 9.0/11, finishing a full point ahead of nine girls who finished at 8.0/11. Srishti lost her fourth round game and then scored an unbeaten 6.0/7 in the last seven games. Mitrabha Guha and Koustav Chatterjee finished at second and third position respectively in the open, Arpita Mukherjee and Aakanksha Hagawane finished at second and third in girls respectively. Anton Korobov is the unbeaten champion of Superbet Rapid

Anton Korobov has convincingly won the rapid section of Superbet Rapid and Blitz by finishing two points ahead of the rest of the field with a score of 12 out of possible 18 points. The Ukrainian Grandmaster, who entered as a wild card participant, managed to remain unbeaten through all the nine rapid rounds. In the third day of the event he drew his games against Levon Aronian, Anish Giri, and Fabiano Caruana and that proved just enough to secure his finish on the top of the leaderboard. Vishy Anand made a promising start by beating Caruana in round seven but lost to Sergey Karjakin and Le Quang Liem subsequently to slip down the rank list. We bring a detailed report from Bucharest with photos, analyses, and more.

Abhimanyu Mishra breaks Praggnanandhaa's record, becomes the youngest IM in the world

A lot of young talents like Praggnanandhaa, Sindarov, Nodirbek, Gukesh etc. have tried their best to break Sergey Karjakin's record of becoming the youngest GM in the world at the age of 12 years and 7 months. But they all missed it by a small margin. Who has the best chance to break this record now? Well, it's a 10-year-old American boy of Indian origin who lives in New Jersey. Meet Abhimanyu Mishra, the youngest IM in the world. Koustav and Srishti take sole lead heading into the final round

Aradhya Garg brought Mitrabha's momentum to screeching halt. Koustav Chatterjee scored a win over Saurabh Anand with ease after the latter kept giving away his pawns for no compensation. Aaryan Varshney made third consecutive short draw, this time against Soham Kamotra. Srijit Paul beat Kumar Gaurav quite comfortably, aiming for a strong finish. In the girls section, Srishti Pandey scored an emphatic victory against Aakanksha Hagawane and took a full point sole lead heading into the final round. Srishti will require only a draw in the final round to win the championship. Akshaya and Priyanka K made a draw in a topsy-turvy game. Korobov leads, Vishy fights back

The second day of Superbet Rapid and Blitz produced quite a few exciting results. The strong Grandmaster Anton Korobov from Ukraine rampaged through the field to take sole lead after day two of the event. Vishy Anand started with a loss but showed some tremendous psychological resilience and high class endgame technique in the very next round to make a strong comeback. The 21-year-old Russian wunderkind Vladislav Artemiev recovered well after first day's dismal performance to stun Anish Giri and Fabiano Caruana back-to-back in rounds five and six. Things are definitely starting to heat up at the Romania Grand Chess Tour 2019, in this detailed report we bring you the glimpses of the latest action through photos, games, and more.

Ambarish Sharma wins 1st BDCA-DSA Open Rating 2019

Ambarish Sharma scored an unbeaten 7.0/9 to win his maiden open rating tournament by becoming a champion in 1st BDCA-DSA Open 2019 at Durgapur, West Bengal. Suvankar Maity and Abhirup Das also finished at the same score, however they were placed second and third according to their tie-break score and Ambarish clinched the championship. Total 222 players participated from various states across the country as well as from the neighboring country Bangladesh. A friendly match between ChessBase India against the Indonesian national team was held from the 28th-31st of October 2019 in Chennai. The aim was to provide ten Indian players a chance to fight it out against high quality opposition. After all the Indonesian team had a hefty rating average of 2373.6. The ChessBase India team consisted of some extremely talented Indian youngsters like Karthikeyan Murali, Arjun Kalyan, Sreeshwan Maralakshikari, Leon Mendonca, Bharath Subramaniyam, Rathanvel, Rohit S., Suyog Wagh, Varshini V., Raghavi N.
