ChessBase India YouTube Membership Update for July 2021

The ChessBase India YouTube Memberships has 5 tiers. They are:

In the month of July we have had 632 members. That's 191 more than the month of June and 324 more than what we had in the month of May! We have 112 pillars, 13 promoters, 62 supporters, 78 boosters and 367 backers of Indian chess. These are the details of all of them:

Details of Month of June:

The final amount comes to Rs.1,14,799 after the 30% YouTube deductions. This entire amount will be used to fund the tournament travel of Ilamparthi. We also received Rs.5,000 from Joy Dutta (he contributed it on his birthday), which makes the entire amount Rs.1,19,799.

Ilamparthi's father Ravikumar wrote to us about the fact that Ilamparthi's laptop was in a poor condition. The hinges were broken and the blue screen of death would cut his preparation mid way. He was also unable to use his ChessBase software. We decided to use the July fund of our YouTube memberships to buy Ilamparthi a laptop, so that he could continue with his chess preparation.

After a couple of days me urging people to help Ilamparthi by becoming members on my YouTube commentary, something quite wonderful happened. We received an email from Krunal Parmar. Krunal, originally from Gujarat, India, now lives in the Netherlands and wanted to help by sending Ilamparthi a laptop. This was the reason: "When I saw the troubles of Ilamparthi via ChessBase India YouTube channel, I just couldn't digest that because of his financial condition he is not able to practice. That's why I acted as quickly as possible. He is not only playing for himself, but also for our country. So It's our duty to help someone like him. Honestly, I always believe that if you help someone, someone will help you and If you want to help and have your heart in a good place, all other things will follow. When I helped him and saw his happy face with the laptop, I can't express in words the happiness and satisfaction I got. I want to help a lot of people in any way possible. This is just a start of many big things to come."

So what are we going to do with our July fund of Rs.1,19,799? We are going to earmark that for Ilamparthi's travel to international events as soon as he begins to play tournament. Currently, it is not 100% safe to travel due to the Covid-19 situation.

An update about the June 2021 fund

We collected Rs.77,383 for Pranav in the month of June. He planned 3 tournaments in Serbia - Serbia Open, Paracin Open and Orbis GM round robin. Pranav gained a massive 123 Elo points and from a rating of 2366, has now moved to 2489 with one GM norm. He also completed his final IM norm and his IM title. Speaking to ChessBase India, Pranav's father Venkatesh mentions, "It was at some point that the timely help on the finance played a major role. I received a message from Sagar about the events and that's when I started seriously planning them." We are very glad with Pranav's progress and hope that he becomes a GM soon. Currently he is planning the Sharjah Masters that is due to take place from 17th to the 25th of September. 

An update about the May 2021 fund

The details of the May fund can be found here. We received Rs.74,931.

Ramaraju has completed his training with Karthik. Working with such a high classs trainer is surely going to be a big boost for his chess career. Ramaraju's assessment of Karthik is the following, "Karthik is very disciplined, dedicated and enjoy chess thoroughly.Specially he is very good in calculation and enjoys to go into the depth of position."

An update about the April 2021 Fund

The details of the April Fund have been mentioned in our previous article on the memberships along with the names of all the donors. We had received Rs.34,588. During the Super Heroes Cup in December 2020, we had received Rs.15,000 from a donor who doesn't wish to reveal his identity. Adding this Rs.15,000 to the April Fund of YouTube memberships, we have a total sum of Rs.49.588. All of this amount will be utilized to support and upcoming young talent - WIM Savitha Shri.

We spoke with Baskar, Savitha's father, who said, "Thanks to ChessBase India for helping Savitha Shri with the sponsorship to train with GM Shyam Sundar. This has been very useful to her and she's learned new ideas from him. Once again thanks for helping her." The trainer Shyam had words of praise for Savitha. Under his tutelage, the girl become the National Junior Champion and has made it to the Indian Olympiad team. Shyam says, "Savitha is very bold and creative. Once the tournaments begin with regularity, she would definitely become an IM and close to GM strength in 2-3 years. Once I told her to play 1.e4 a6 with black in one of her events, and the girl went ahead and played it. She also won the game, but that was not the most important thing. The key aspect was her courage and confidence to try new things on the board."
