PSPB wins National Team 2018 with a perfect score

PSPB always performed strong in National Team Championship. However, this time they finished with 100% score 18/18 asnd 14/14 in both open and women's section respectively. Airport Authority of India scored 14/18 and finished in the 2nd position. Both RSPB-A and RSPB- B finished at 13/18 each. However due to a better tie-break score RSPB-B finished at 3rd position and RSPB-A at 4th. In the women's section, Air India finished at 2nd position with a score of 11/14 and Airport Authority of India scored 10/14 to secure 3rd position. All ten players of PSPB got a Board Prize each, followed by Airport Authority of India who got seven and Air India got five. Reigning National Amateur champion Hemal Thanki drew with GM Baskaran Adhiban in Giuco Piano, although BSNL went down to PSPB 0.5-3.5

Team AAI defeated Team RSPB-A by 3-1 and secured 2nd position

Visakh N R of AAI defeated M S Thejkumar of RSPB-A in the last round, scored 6/7 and secured 4th position on Board No.3

Shyam Sundar of AAI defeated Swapnil Dhopade of RSPB-A in the last round, scored 5.5/7 asnd secured 5th position on Board No.3

V A V Rajesh of AAi scored 6/6 and secured 1st position on Board No.4

Team RSPB-B drew with Team Odisha-KIIT 2-2 in the last round and secured 3rd position

S Nitin of RSPB-B scored 6.5/9 and secured 4th position on Board No.1

CRG Krishna of RSPB-B scored 5.5/7 and secured 4th position on Board No.4

Air India defeated Tamil Nadu 0-4 in the last round and they were placed 2nd in Women's section

The tournament was organized by KIIT University and All Odisha Chess Association from 8th to 14th February 2018 in KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Total 48 teams including over 200 players across the country, participated in the tournament.
