Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan clinches 1st Bikaner International GM Category B Below 2000 Rating

Dinesh Kumar Jaganathan scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 1st Bikaner GM Category B Below 2000 Rating Tournament. He finished a full point ahead of the field. Six players scored 7.5/9 each. His elder brother, Kishore Kumar Jaganathan was placed second on tie-breaks, Ajay Virwani was adjudged third. The total prize fund for Category B was ₹1000000. Top three prizes were ₹100000, ₹75000 and ₹65000 along with a trophy each.. A total of 299 players participated from various states across India along with Bangladesh and Nepal. The Jaganathan brothers dominate the podium

In GM tournaments, the time control allotted for Category B is rarely 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment. An ample time control and a huge prize fund attracted a lot of players not only from various parts of India but also from the neighboring countries. WCM Sanskruti Wankhade and WFM Supreetha Potluri are two female players to finish in top ten. Both scored 7/9 each. They were placed eighth and ninth overall according to tie-breaks.

A total of 299 players participated from Bangladesh, Nepal and India in this five-day nine-round Swiss League tournament. The tournament was organized by Rajasthan Chess Association from 1st to 5th October at Ashirwad Bhawan in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The time control for the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
