Indrajeet beats Neverov
IM Kushagra Mohan averted his second loss in-a-row. His veteran opponent GM Raset Ziatdinov (USA) missed a winning continuation. The teenager managed to salvage a draw.
Abhijeet - Tahbaz: 1-0
IM Tahbaz Arash (IRI, 2438) blundered a piece while trying to stop GM Abhijeet Gupta's (2607) outside passed pawn.
Black had to play 31...Qe8 first before going Bc4 as 31...Bc4 immediately runs into 32.Qc6. There is no good way to get out of the fork and avoid material loss.
Indrajeet - Neverov: 1-0
Indrajeet Mahindrakar (2050) scored a very nice win over GM Valeriy Neverov (UKR, 2431). The veteran GM lost a tempo in the opening by displacing his knight incorrectly on h5.
11...Nh5 is mistimed as White can play 12.g4 right away which is what Indrajeet did in the game. 12...Nhf6 13.0-0-0 and 13 moves later...
White sacrificed his knight 26.Nxf6+. Sure there is no definite win for White after 26...Bxf6, however White has a huge initiative and practically it is not easy for Black to defend the position. The game continued 26...Rxf6?? 27.Bxf6 Bxf6 28.g5 Bg7 29.Re8+ Bf8 30.g6 and White won the game in another seven moves.
