Madhesh Kumar S dominates 2nd Sakatam Blitz Rating Open 2024

11-year-old Madhesh Kumar S scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 2nd Sakatam Blitz Rating Open 2024. Three players - FM Daakshin Arun, Abhrojyoty Nath and CM Mrithyunjay Mahadevan scored 8/9 each. They were placed second to fourth respectively according to tie-breaks. Total prize fund was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹20000, ₹15000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each. The one-day Blitz tournament was organized by NorthEast Chess India and HBM Society at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, Assam on 15th August 2024. Madhesh wins his second rating tournament of the year in consecutive days

Soram Rahul Singh, Madhesh Kumar S and Kumar Gaurav were the three leaders with a score 7.5/8 each, going into the final round. Madhesh defeated Soram, Kumar lost to FM Daakshin Arun. Abhrojyoti Nath won against Pranav K P. Madhesh became a clear champion, Daakshin second and Abhrojyoty third.

A total of 365 players took part from various states across the country in this one-day nine round Blitz Rating tournament. It was organized by NorthEast Chess India and HBM Society at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati, Assam on 15th August 2024. The time control of the event was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per move.
