26th Asian Youth R1: 23 Indians score a full point

23 out of 35 Indians have scored a full point in the first round of 26th Asian Youth Chess Championships 2024. Two out of three Gold medal winners - Narayani Umesh Marathe and Pratitee Bordoloi have won their respective games. Saathvik Chakravarthy Ramayanam drew against sixth seeded - Adinur Adilbek in Under-8 Open. Unrated Nakshatra Gumudavelly drew with Alisha Bissaliyeva (KAZ). Swayham P Das held FM Gaurang Bagwe to a draw. Swayham will face another compatriot in the second round, IM Harsh Suresh. Rajarajeshwari Yogesh Deshmukh defeated Al-Qudah Rubah (JOR). Top seeds make a smooth start

GM Alisher Suleymenov (KAZ) and WGM Gulmira Dauletova (KAZ), Executive Director, Kazakhstan Chess Federation made the ceremonial first move of the first round on Under-18 Open top board. Later in the day after the conclusion of the round, there was a Q&A session with Alisher. He answered all questions asked by players, parents and accompanying persons.

Under-8 Open

Sarbartho Mani (1587), Hriday Garg (1554) and Kavish Palaniappan K (1551) made a winning start against Chimedtseyen Munkhtulga (MGL, 1453), Salman Khilou (KGZ) and Khudoyorkhon Khusanbaev (UZB) respectively. Saathvik Chakravarthy Ramayanam (1414) held Adinur Adilbek (KAZ, 1600) to a draw.

The Q&A session video will be published soon. Alisher answered questions asked by players, parents and accompanying persons. He selected Hafsa Qamar's (PAK, U18G) question to be the best question asked out of all. She received a brand new wooden chess board autographed by the Grandmaster. He also signed various autographs and posed for photos for the participating children and also their accompanying persons.
