Tata Steel Chess India Rapid and Blitz 2020 cancelled owing to Covid-19 pandemic

Tata Steel Chess India was the first Super tournament to take place in India in the year 2018. The previous iteration in 2019 was part of the Grand Chess Tour and witnessed the participation of world champion Magnus Carlsen and also the first Official Fischer Random world champion Wesley So. Nakamura and Anand - the winner of first Tata Steel Chess India Rapid and Blitz respectively in 2018 also returned for the second consecutive year. Many chess players, enthusiasts of the sport were looking forward to the third edition of this great spectacle to make its return this year, however due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, much to the dismay of the entire chess universe, it had to be cancelled keeping in view of health and safety concerns. Leon and Souhardo dominate First Saturday November 2020

While the number of over-the-board has dwindled a lot since the Coronavirus Pandemic took over early this year, one Indian kid has continued his quest to become India's next GM. 14-year-old IM Leon Mendonca Luke won First Saturday GM November 2020 emphatically with an unbeaten 7.5/9 and a performance of 2688. Since he has crossed 2500 this month, he is just a GM-norm away from becoming India's next GM. 13-year-old Souhardo Basak secured his second IM-norm with a score of 7.0/9 and a performance of 2477. In fact it has been abolished for more than two decade ago. We get to see how a chess player is ready to stay at almost any condition, just to improve their game. A very good preparation does not necessarily guarantee a very good performance at the tournament. Strong players can also hit rock-bottom, they are also vulnerable just like any other human being. Team India wins Silver at 2020 SCO National Chess Online Competition

Team India wins Silver at 2020 SCO National Chess Online Team Championship with a score of 14.0/18. The event was organized by Chess Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports on 26th and 27th September. Reigning National Triple Crown Champion and FIDE Online Olympiad Gold medalist Aravindh Chithambaram led the team from the front with an unbeaten 8.0/9, IM Ravi Teja S also remained unbeaten and scored 6.0/9. 16th Maheshwaranand Saraswati Memorial Online Blitz Open with ₹60000 prize fund

The Queen's Gambit Episode 5 is titled 'Fork'. We all know what 'Fork' in chess means. However this episode is not about the tactical theme 'Fork', it is more about Beth coming at a division of roads where there is no wrong choices but it is her who has to make the decision for herself. We get to see a lot of games in this episode starting with Smyslov-Botvinnik, Tal, Ivanchuk, Kramnik and David Baramidze's games. Beth plays a lot of Speed Chess against Benny which draws a huge crowd. Moreover we also get to know that Beth loves to analyze her games and study strong players games instead of solving positions.
