Vedika Gujrathi has been in touch with the chess world since she was a very young girl. She would travel with her brother Vidit to different tournaments. Over her journey of several years, she developed a recipe of chocolates which was not only tasty, but was also very energizing for her brother during his chess games! These chocolates were launched for the world at large on 30th of July 2021. In the last 15 months, more than 1300 packs of Vedika's chocolates have been sold with very positive feedback. But now it is time for Vedika to move on in her life as she enters her higher education. This is the reason why she is stopping the production of the chocolates. Kunal wins 1st SRM Rapid Rating Open 2022 featuring 575 players

M Kunal, IM Harikrishnan A Ra and Ram S Krishnan tied at 7.5/8 each at 1st SRM Rapid Rating Open 2022. Kunal won the tournament due to better tie-break score. Harikrishnan and Ram were placed second and third according to tie-breaks. All three evidently remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹21000 and a trophy, ₹18000 and ₹15000 each respectively. World Junior 2022 R5: Leon Luke Mendonca and Prraneeth Vuppala reduce the gap

GM Leon Luke Mendonca scored an emphatic victory over IM Armen Barseghyan (ARM) in the fifth round of World Junior 2022 Open. IM Prraneeth Vuppala defeated FM Hugo de Melo Lux (BRA) with a very nice counter-attack. Both Leon and Prraneeth are now at a half point behind the leader 3.5/5 each. They will face each other in the sixth round. WGM Priyanka Nutakki played a steady game and defeated WFM Zsofia Gombocz (HUN) to move to 4/5. She is now just a half point behind the leaders and will face one of them, WGM Govhar Beydullayeva (AZE) in the sixth round. It starts today at 3:30 p.m. local time, 7 p.m. IST. Aimchess Rapid R5-8: Arjun Erigaisi beats Magnus Carlsen for the very first time

Arjun Erigaisi defeated the world champion Magnus Carlsen in the seventh round of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Aimchess Rapid 2022. This is Arjun's first-ever victory over the world no.1. The teenager showed that he learnt from his mistakes in the previous event and he worked out a way. When Carlsen opted for the Modern Defence once again, Arjun did not go for the same line which he did twice at the Julius Baer Generation Cup. Nodirbek Abdusattorov maintains his sole lead 17/24, followed by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Magnus Carlsen at 16/24 each. Jan-Krzysztof Duda and Arjun are at 15/24, Vincent Keymer, Anish Giri and D Gukesh at 12/24 each. Round 9 starts tonight at 9:30 p.m. IST.

Kartavya Anadkat conquers Birat Rating Open 2022, Ram Prakash second

The former National Amateur champion, Kartavya Anadkat scored 8/9 and finished a full point ahead of the competition. Five players scored 7/9. Ram Prakash and FM Aminul Islam (BAN) were adjudged second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. Kartavya gained 82 Elo rating points. His sole loss was against the eventual runner-up, Ram Prakash. The total prize fund of the tournament was NRS 460000 (approx. ₹287560). World Junior 2022 R4: Manish beats Luka

IM Manish Anto Cristiano F defeated GM Luka Budisavljevic (SRB) in the fourth round of World Junior 2022 Open. GM Iniyan P grinded a rook and opposite color bishop endgame against FM Ari Guz (ISR). IM Prraneeth Vuppala missed his opportunity to score a full point against IM S Rohith Krishna. GM Leon Luke Mendonca and IM Utsab Chatterjee drew their respective respective games. Among the Girls, WGM Priyanka Nutakki drew with WIM Assel Serikbay (KAZ). At one point, Priyanka was in troubled waters. Her opponent could not make the most out of it. Aimchess Rapid R1-4: Carlsen escapes the jaws of defeat against Aditya Mittal

IM Aditya Mittal was the on verge of beating Magnus Carlsen in their first-ever encounter. The 16-year-old missed his solitary winning opportunity in the fourth round of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Aimchess Rapid 2022. The world champion avoided a second loss of the day and salvaged a draw. The teenager defeated Sweden no.1 GM Nils Grandelius and drew with GM Daniel Naroditsky. He could not have asked for a better start. Reigning World Rapid champion, Nodirbek Abdusattorov hasa emerged an early sole leader 10/12. He is followed by five players at 7/12 each. Gukesh scored an unbeaten 6/12, Arjun Erigaisi, Vidit Gujrathi and Aditya are at 5/12 each. Harikrishna is still in search of his first win of the event. A lot has been talked about the first Chess Olympiad to take place in India which concluded just over two months ago, with praise from all quarters of the global chess fraternity. Abundant content on the games, drama, playing hall and so on has been brought to you by various chess reporters, media and streamers. However, how would it have felt to experience the moments in person, at least for the final few days of the mega event and see the Indian teams enter the podium, on top of all the drama and nail-biting finishes? World Junior 2022 R2-3: Priyanka Nutakki makes a good start

WGM Priyanka Nutakki made a good start 2.5/3 at World Junior 2022 Girls. She defeated WFM Gulenay Aydin (TUR) in the second round and drew with WGM Maili-Jade Ouellet (CAN) in the third. Although the Canadian had a winning opportunity, she missed the combination and Priyanka managed to escape with a draw. IM Prraneeth Vuppala and IM Manish Anto Cristiano F drew with GM Arseniy Nesterov and GM Iniyan P respectively in the third round. Four Indians are currently at 2/3 in the Open section. Fagernes Autumn GM 2022 R1-5: Vaishali's immortal game against Sethuraman

IM Vaishali perhaps scored her immortal win over GM Sethuraman in the fifth round of Fagernes Autumn GM 2022. Vaishali put both of her knights under attack in a rare self-fork against the former Asian Continental champion. The attack certainly rattled her opponent which induced some decisive mistakes. She is now joined by eight more players in the lead 4/5. FM S Harshad scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Azure All India Rapid Rating Open 2022. He finished a half point ahead of the field. FM Harsh Suresh and Gugan G scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. They all remained undefeated. Fourth place finisher Kanishk S K also remained unbeaten. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. This was Harshad's first-ever Rapid Rating Open tournament triumph. World Junior 2022 R1: Ishvi Aggarwal gives a massive scare to World U18 champion Mariam Mkrtchyan

16-year-old Ishvi Aggarwal is the reigning National Amateur U-2300 Women's champion. She was paired against the newly crowned World Under-18 Girls champion, WIM Mariam Mkrtchyan (ARM). Mariam won the Gold last month with an astonishing 11/11 score. Getting a completely winning position against her was certainly not an easy task. Ishvi managed to do that, yet she was unable to make the most out of her opportunity, allowing her opponent to escape with a draw by perpetual check in the end. The highest rated Indian in the field, GM Leon Luke Mendonca also had a shaky start. He somehow wiggled out of trouble and won his first round game. Today is the sole double round of the tournament. Kaustuv Kundu and IM Ravi Teja S scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 and 8/9 each to win Vizag Rapid and Blitz Rating Open 2022 respectively. Both of them finished a half point ahead of the competition. IM Mehar Chinna Reddy C H scored sole 8/9 to secure second place. Ajay Mushini edged past IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad on tie-breaks to finish third in Rapid. Four players scored 7.5/9 in the Blitz event. IM Bala and IM CRG Krishna were adjudged second and third respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹700000, ₹500000 for Rapid and ₹200000 for Blitz.
