Garv Gaur wins 1st AFCA Rapid Rating Open 2023

FM Garv Gaur and FM Aaryan Varshney scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 each at 1st AFCA Rapid Rating Open 2023. Garv won the tournament due to better tie-breaks, Aaryan was adjudged second. Four players - Arun Rathee, CM Aaditya Dhingra, Daksh Goyal and WFM Shubhi Gupta scored 8/9 each. They were placed third to sixth respectively. Both Garv and Aaryan won eight games in-a-row to become the coleaders 8/8. They drew their final round game against each other. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. A total of 624 players took part from various places all over the country in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by All Faridabad Chess Association and Prominent Chess Academy at Aravali International School in Faridabad, Haryana on 28th and 29th October 2023. The time control of the event was 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.
