Arpan Das clinches 1st AFCA Rating Open 2024

Arpan Das scored 8/9 to win 1st AFCA Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Five players - IM Srijit Paul, Sudhanshu Ranjan, Naitik R Mehta, Daksh Goyal and Arshpreet Singh scored 7.5/10 each. They were placed second to sixth respectively according to tie-breaks. Arpan defeated both runners-up which included the top seed and only IM taking part in the event. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹700000. The top three prizes were ₹71000, ₹51000 and ₹35000 along with a trophy each. The tournament was organized by All Faridabad Chess Association at DPSG School in Faridabad, Haryana from 26th to 30th June 2024. This was Arpan's first tournament victory of the year. No-draw approach by the champion

Arpan Das, Sudhanshu Ranjan and Daksh Goyal were the three coleaders heading into the final round with a score 7/8 each. Sudhanshu drew with Daksh. Kartavya Anadkat lost to Arpan. Thus, Arpan became a clear champion. IM Srijit Paul defeated Advik Amit Agrawal to finish second, Sudhanshu third.

A total of 256 players including an IM took part from various places across the country, one from England and Germany each in this five-day nine-round Swiss League Rating Open tournament. It was organized by AFCA (All Faridabad Chess Association) at DPSG School in Faridabad, Haryana from 26th to 30th June 2024. The time control of the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
