Anish Gandhi dominates Bhilwara Rating Open 2024
CM Anish Gandhi scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win Bhilwara Rating Open 2024. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. Saikat Nath scored sole 7.5/9 to secure second place. Seven players scored 7/9 each. Out of them, Aman Balana secured third place. However, he won the Best Below 1799 prize. Rewansh Vaidya won the overall third prize. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹600000. The top three prizes were ₹75000, ₹50000 and ₹30000 along with a trophy each respectively. The six-day nine-round Swiss league rating tournament was organized by District Chess Association Bhilwara at Sri Mahesh Vatika in Bhilwara, Rajasthan from 24th to 29th December 2024. Atharva wins his second rating tournament in 2025
Mr. Ajay Kumar Gupta, father of Mr. Commonwealth - GM Abhijeet Gupta, also Senior Vice President of Rajasthan Chess Association and Secretary of District Chess Association, Bhilwara shared - "Let me introduce myself and the key persons of the organising team. I am the proud Father of Arjuna Awardee, GM Abhijeet Gupta. I am working as Treasurer in Rajasthan Chess Association and Treasurer District Chess Bhilwara. Mr. Kailash Chandra Dad is the first coach of GM Abhijeet Gupta and Sr. Vice President, Rajasthan Chess Association and Secretary, District Chess Association, Bhilwara. Mr. Satya Narayan Purohit, Joint Secretary, District Chess Association, Bhilwara. Interestingly, we all are Senior Citizens. We are 63, 68 and 67 years old respectively.
We are thankful to Nitin Spinners Group, RCM Group, Sudhiva Spinners Pvt. Ltd. and Jindal Saw Limited who are main sponsors of the tournament. We received more contributions from many more from the firms/individuals/companies. We also appreciate their contribution towards the successful event helping us to provide free Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (with a fixed menu) to every player accompanying persons during the tournament.
We are working hard to produce many more rated chess players and one more Grandmaster from Bhilwara. The one and only Grandmaster from Rajasthan - GM Abhijeet Gupta (Mr. Commonwealth) hails from Bhilwara. We can understand this is not an easy task. We are also committed to organise a GM Tournament in the coming 2-3 years.
District Chess Association, Bhilwara organised the second Open Rating tournament in the year 2024. The DCA is committed to promote classical Chess in Bhilwara / Rajasthan and decided not to organise any Rapid / Blitz / below rating tournaments in the future.

7. All India FIDE Rating Tournament Prize Fund ₹500000 – July 2024
8. Bhilwara All India Open Rating Tournament Prize Fund ₹600000 – December 2024."
A total of 203 players took part from various parts of India. The six-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by District Chess Association Bhilwara at Sri Mahesh Vatika in Bhilwara, Rajasthan from 24th to 29th January 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
