Rakshith Srinivasan perfect at Czech Open G2 Rapid 2024

Rakshith Srinivasan scored a perfect 9/9 to become the champion at Czech Open G2 Rapid 2024. He finished a whopping 1.5 points ahead of the rest. Vojtech Stary (CZE) scored 7.5/9 to secure second place. Lukas Stary (CZE) edged past three more players on tie-breaks to finish third with a score 7/9. The total prize fund of the tournament was 5000 CZK. The top three prizes were CZK 2000, 1500 and 1000. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by AVE CHESS z.s. at IDEON congress centre, Jiraskova in Pardubice, Czech Republic on 17th and 18th July 2024. Thibault Dudognon wins 15th Vaujany International Festival 2024, Anwesh Upadhyaya third

FM Thibault Dudognon (FRA) and GM Jean-Marc Degraeve (FRA) scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 each at win 15th Vaujany International Chess Festival Main (>1800) 2024. Thibault won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Jean-Marc was placed second. Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya scored sole 7/9 to finish third. The total prize fund of Main tournament was €5400. The first prize was €1200. The nine-day nine round Rating tournament was organized by Jean-Pierre Lees at Espace Loisirs in Vaujany, France from 11th to 19th July 2024. Anwesh was the sole Indian to make a top ten finish.

IM Raahil Mullick's fantastic efforts in training Blind Chess Players

Raahil Mullick, currently 17 years old, became an International Master in Chess at the age of 12. A very strong player and talented youngster himself, Raahil has recently started a new venture - training blind chess players! He will be the head coach of the Indian National Blind Chess Junior Team in the upcoming World Championship for Blind Chess players. Mihir Shah victorious at 1st Phoenix Marketcity Rapid Rating Open 2024

Mihir Shah, FM Anirudhha Potawad, CM Aansh Nandan Nerurkar and Arnav Kherdekar scored 8/9 each at 1st Phoenix Marketcity Rapid Rating Open 2024. Mihir won the tournament on tie-breaks. The remaining three were placed second to fourth respectively. Mihir and Aansh remained undefeated among the top four. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹1000000. The top three prizes were ₹20000 + trophy, ₹15000 and ₹10000 each respectively. The one-day nine round rating tournament was organized by us, ChessBase India at Dublin Square, Phoenix Marketcity in Mumbai, Maharashtra on International Chess Day, 20th July 2024. Pawel Sowinski wins Slovakia Open Piestany 2024, Ilamparthi third

FM Pawel Sowinski (POL) and GM Tomas Laurusas (LTU) scored an unbeaten 7/9 each at Slovaki Open Piestany 2024 in Open A (>2100). Pawel won the tournament on tie-breaks and also scored a GM-norm. Tomas secured second place. Six players - IM Ilamparthi A R, GM Shyam Sundar M, GM Anton Demchenko (SLO), GM Gergely Aczel (HUN), IM Moksh Amit Doshi and IM Filip Haring (SVK) scored 6.5/9. They were placed third to eighth respectively. The total prize fund in Open A was €10350. The top three prizes were €2200, €1500 and €900 each. Ajay Santhosh Parvathareddy, FM Adarsh Tripathi and FM Senthil Maran K scored an IM-norm each. This was Senthil's final IM-norm and he also got 2411 published rating in August FIDE Rating list. WR Chess is the inaugural World Blitz Team 2024 Champion, MGD1 second

WR Chess defeated MGD1 to win the World Blitz Team Championship 2024. Thus, they managed to win both inaugural editions of FIDE World Rapid (2023) and Blitz Team Championships. MGD1 played really well as they beat the newly crowned World Rapid Team champion - Al-Ain ACMG UAE in the Semifinals. MGD1 defeating AAAU in the tie-breaks 3.5-2.5 in a must-win situation was definitely their highlight of the day. In the Finals, Arjun defeated the World no.1, Magnus Carlsen. Al-Ain ACMG UAE clear first at World Rapid Team 2024, WR Chess third

Al-Ain ACMG UAE scored an unbeaten 21/24 to win World Rapid Team Championship 2024. Decade China Team scored sole 20/24 to secure second place. They also remained undefeated. The defending champion, WR Chess won all four matches on the final day to finish third scoring 19/24. The winners, drew with the eventual runner-up in round 4 and defeated the second runner-up in in round 5. GM Dmitry Andreikin was the top performer 9/10 for the winning team. The All-Indian team MGD1 scored 17/24 to finish fifth. Although Praggnanandhaa did not have the best event, his team WR Chess finished third. Jules Moussard triumphs at 4th La Plagne Masters 2024, Raja Rithvik second and Iniyan third

GM Jules Moussard (FRA) scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win 4th La Plagne Masters (>1950) 2024. Four Indians - GM Raja Rithvik R, GM Pa Iniyan, GM Prraneeth Vuppala and IM Bala Chandra Prasad Dhulipalla scored 7/9 each. They were placed second to fifth according to tie-breaks respectively. Top two remained undefeated. WGM-elect Sakshi Chitlange scored 5.5/9 to earn her second IM-norm. The total prize fund of Masters was €16000. The top three prizes were €3000, €2300 and €1700 along with a trophy each. The seven-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Cercle d'Échecs du Bassin Annemassien in La Plagne, France from 6th to 12th July 2024. World Rapid Team 2024 R5-8: Al-Ain ACMG UAE emerges sole leader, MGD1 maintains pursuit

Al-Ain ACMG UAE has emerged sole leader 14/16 after Round 8 of World Rapid Team Championship 2024. They started the day by handing WR Chess their second consecutive loss. Then they drew with one of then coleaders, Chessy. Royal Chess and Q4Rail Kingsofchess Krakow were the next two teams to go down against the sole leader. Decade China is the only other team who is undefeated along with the sole leader. They are at 13/16. Chessy and MGD1 are third place 12/16 each. MGD1 defeated Chessy to finish the day on a high note and reduce the gap. Magnus Carlsen's team, the defending champions are lagging behind at fifth place 11/16 with Ashdod Chess Club. Laxman R R wins Chairman's Trophy Rapid Rating Open 2024

GM Laxman R R, IM Hari Madhavan N B, FM Harshad S and GM Deepan Chakkravarthy J scored 8/9 each at Chairman's Trophy Rapid Rating Open 2024. Laxman won the tournament on tie-breaks. Hari, Harshad and Deepan were placed second to fourth respectively. Apart from Harshad, the remaining three remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹2000000. The top three prizes were ₹21000 + trophy, ₹18000 and ₹15000 each respectively. The one-day nine round rating tournament was organized by Sri Raghavnedra Chess Academy and Master Mind Chess Academy at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu on 13th July 2024. World Rapid Team 2024 R1-4: Rapport stuns Magnus in 23 moves, helps Chessy crush WR Chess

The Artist, Richard Rapport scored a sensational win over Magnus Carlsen to ensure his team Chessy's crushing victory over WR Chess. The Hungary no.1 who is known to play creative and exciting chess, surprised the World no.1 in the opening. Delaying the castle and keeping his king stranded at the center of the board allowed Rapport to score a win. The defending champion WR Chess succumbed to Chessy 1-5 after barely managing to win their previous two rounds. Meanwhile, the sole leader Chessy is looking very strong and balanced as they won all four matches to emerge sole leader 8/8. Vidit is the only player of Chessy who lost both games. This August, play three Rapid Rating tournaments in West Bengal. The first one is an International Rapid Rating Open on Thursday 22nd August. It will be organized by Checkmate Chess Academy at ICCR, Kolkata, West Bengal. The total prize fund is ₹500000. The second event is - St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association and Department of Sports, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous) presents All Bengal Rapid Rating Open 2024. It will be held from 24th to 26th August. The total prize fund is ₹200000. Special attraction will be the World no.4 and India no.1 - GM Arjun Erigaisi. He will be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and also play Simultaneous Exhibition games. The third event is TCCCA All India Rapid Rating Open 2024. The second edition of FIDE World Rapid Team Championship is starting today in Astana, Kazakhstan. A total of 12 Indians are going to take part, third after Kazakhstan 159 and Kyrgyzstan 13. Arjun Erigaisi, R Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujrathi, Nihal Sarin, Raunak Sadhwani, S L Narayanan, Pranav V, B Adhiban, Srinath Narayanan, Koneru Humpy, Harika Dronavalli and Mihir Shah will be representing their respective teams. A total of 303 players in 39 teams representing 32 countries are slated to take part. The total prize fund in Rapid is €250000, for Blitz €100000. The top three prizes in Rapid are €100000, 60000 and 40000 each, for Blitz €40000, €25000 and €17500 each respectively. There will be four rounds every day from 2nd to 4th August 2024.
