All GM and IM events have been fully subscribed within a week but in the expanded version, the organisers can still accept entries meeting the title rating requirements, and it will be again held at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre in the vibrant epicentre of South East Asia’s oldest city which attracts millions of visitors annually.
In the GM tournaments, a truly multi-cultural participation largely from the “smaller Dragons and Tigers” of East Asia, International Masters, Mohammad Fahad Rahman (Bangladesh), Azarya Setyaki (Indonesia), Shinya Kojima (Japan), Kushal R Jani (India), Lee Junhyeok (South Korea), Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage (Sri Lanka), Micheal Concio Jr. (Philippines), IM Prin Laohawirapap (Thailand) will join Vietnam hopefuls Dau Khuong Duy and Banh Gia Huy in pursuit of the Grandmaster title.
Those looking to increase their rating, in particular young players with ambition, should consider playing in the FM tournaments which will provide the competitive environment critical for player development.
