Our friends from the Quang Ninh Sports and Training Centre was one the smaller delegations with just eight players and typically opted to rent a multi-bedroom apartment with a kitchen.
Vietnam is unique in their social structures even during competition with an emphasis on unity and being together as a family, and so the coaches, parents cooked together for the children, enjoyed the coffee Vietnam is world famous for, and on the single rest day, fully enjoyed the local sights and culture.
Quang Ninh in the end won two silver and six bronze medals, sadly missing out on a gold medal, but this has now become a motivation to try harder next time with the most important thing being that they were a united, happy team.
