Vaclav Finek wins Czech Open Pardubice 2024, Ameya Audi second

IM Vaclav Finek (CZE) and IM Ameya Audi scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 each at Czech Open Pardubice A 2024. The teenager won the tournament on tie-breaks. Four players - GM Jiri Stocek (CZE), GM Evgeny Zanan (ISR), IM Stepan Hrbek (CZE) and IM Klaudia Kulon (POL) scored 7/9 each. They were placed third to sixth respectively. The total prize fund of the tournament was 300000 CZK. The top three prizes were CZK 70000, 50000 and 40000 along with a trophy each. 14-year-old IM Vaclav Finek is a huge talent from the Czech Republic. In the final round, he defeated the top seed, GM Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu (GER) to become the champion. The tournament is financially supported by FIDE Open Aid Project.

A total of 198 players including 6 GMs, 21 IMs, 3 WGMs and 2 WIMs took part from 30 countries across the world in this nine-day nine round Swiss League Open (>=2100) tournament. It was organized by AVE CHESS z.s. at IDEON congress centre, Jiraskova in Pardubice, Czech Republic from 19th to 27th July 2024. The time control of the event was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
