India wins double Silver at 19th Asian Games 2022 Team

Indian Men and Women defeated Philippines and Republic of Korea to clinch Silver medals at 19th Asian Games 2022. Indian Men won the final round against Philippines 3.5-0.5. The Women registered their fourth 4-0 whitewash of the event. It was against Republic of Korea in Round 9. Out of 36 games, India lost only one in the team event. In the Men's event, Iran won Gold 16/18, India Silver 15/18 and Uzbekistan Bronze 14/18. China clinched the Gold in the Women 17/18, India Silver 15/18 and Kazakhstan Bronze 13/18. Indian Men and Women certainly delivered a solid performance, earning a double Silver at this long grueling event.

Men: India - Philippines: 3.5-0.5

GM R Praggnanandhaa (2727) was held to a draw by IM Paulo Bersamina (2434). GM Vidit Gujrathi (2716), GM Arjun Erigaisi (2712) and GM Pentala Harikrishna (2711) scored a win each.

All four women - GM Harika Dronavalli (2502), IM Vaishali R (2448), IM Vantika Agrawal (2435) and WGM Savitha Shri B (2375) once again had no trouble winning against their much lower rated opponents.
