19th Asian Games 2022 Team R6: Indian Women vanquish Uzbekistan 4-0

Indian Women registered their second consecutive whitewash victory, this time against Uzbekistan in Round 6 of 19th Asian Games 2022. GM Koneru Humpy, IM Vaishali R, IM Vantika Agrawal and WGM Savitha Shri B, all four of them scored comfortable wins. Unlike the last round, all four games ended in 48 moves or less. Indian Men were held to a draw by China. Only D Gukesh had a realistic chance to push for a win. However, it was not easy. The game ended in a draw and the same result occurred in the remaining three games. Indian Men vs Vietnam and the Women will face Kazakhstan in Round 7. China shares the point with India

Iran is leading the Men section scoring 10/12, followed by India at 9/12. Vietnam and Uzbekistan are at 8/12 each. In the Women's event, China is the sole leader 11/12, followed by India at 10/12. Kazakhstan is currently at third place 8/12.

Men: India - China: 2-2

GM D Gukesh (2758) had a slight chance against GM Wei Yi (2726) to push a bit. However, it was not much and the teenager could not find a way to capitalize on his chance. The remaining three games ended in well contested draws.

White got a nice initiative 22.a5. After 22...Qc7 White needed to build his attack further 23.Qd3 Ka8 24.Qc4. 23.cxb4 released the tension Nxb4 24.Qc4 Qd7 25.Rac1 Qg4 26.Qxg4 Rxg4 and White's advantage dissipated.
