Samarth J Rao wins 3rd All India Physically Challenged Rating Chess Championship 2022

CM Samarth J Rao and Naveen Kumar A scored 7.5/9 each at 3rd All India Physically Challenged Rating Chess Championship 2022. Samarth remained won the tournament due to better tie-breaks. Naveen finished second. The champion from Karnataka also remained undefeated, drew with both eventual runner-ups. Defending chaampion FM Venkata Krishna Karthik scored sole 7/9 to finish third. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. A total of 50 players out of 64 won a prize each.

First-ever Rating tournament triumph for Samarth

Samarth J Rao (KAR) finished third in the first edition in 2015. He has played and won many tournaments. However, this is his first Rating tournament triumph.

CM Samarth J Rao (KAR, 1664) defeated Murahari A H (TN, 1210) in the final round to win the tournament.

Samarth J Rao scored an undefeated 7.5/9 and gained 15 Elo rating points

A total of 64 players took part from all over India. The four-day nine-round Swiss league Rating tournament was organized by New Tumkur Chess Association and MM Chess Development Trust at Shridevi College of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital, Tumkur, Karnataka from 1st to 4th December 2022. The time control of the tournament was 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
