Mihajlo Stojanovic wins Basel Carnival 2024, Himal Gusain second

GM Mihajlo Stojanovic (SRB) scored an unbeaten 4.5/5 to win Basel Carnival 2024 Open. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. Eight players - IM Himal Gusain, IM Harry Grieve (ENG), FM Deyan Samuil Kostov (BUL), GM Alexandre Dgebuadze (BEL), Simon Schweizer (JPN), Johannes Rappazzo (SUI), Nicolas Kaser (SUI) and Bernd Reinhardt (GER) scored 4/5 each. They were placed second to ninth respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was CHF 5200. The top three prizes were CHF 1000, 800 and 600 each. A total of 75 players including 2 GMs and 2 IMs took part from 18 countries all over the world in this three-day five round Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Claudio Boschetti - Swiss CHess Tour at Landgasthof Riehen in Riehen, Switzerland from 2nd to 4th February 2024. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
