Thomas Brand invites you to 48th Zurich Christmas Open 2024. The 48th edition is offering a total prize fund of CHF 18500 (≈₹1763605). The tournament has two categories - Master (>2000) and Main (≤2050). The top three prizes in Master are CHF 3000, 2000 and 1400. A total of 5 GMs and an IM have registered from seven countries across the world. Entry fee is CHF 180 including banquet in the Master, CHF 160 for the Main category. This December play a strong rating open in Zurich, Switzerland
Dear chess friends,
Soon, it will start again. The well known, traditional christmas tournament in Zurich will open its doors for the 48th time. The venue is as always at the Hotel Crowne Plaza. We are convinced that also this year, there will be many interesting and challenging games. Link to last year's article. Venue, Dates, Entry fee and Eligibility
The tournament will take place at Hotel Crowne Plaza in Zurich, Switzerland from 26th to 30th December 2024. The tournament has two categories - Master (>2000) and Main (≤2050). Entry fee is CHF 180 including banquet for Masters category. Entry free for GM/IM. CHF 160 for Main tournament. Visit here for complete info about entry fee.
Schedule
The tournament will take place from 26th to 30th December. There are double rounds on 27th and 29th December 2024. Check out the image below for complete schedule details. There is a Blitz tournament on 28th December.
Prizes
The total prize fund is more than CHF 18500 (≈₹1763605). The top three prizes in Master tournament is - CHF 3000 (≈₹285990), 2000 (≈₹190660) and 1400 (≈₹133462). Total ten prizes are there. For Main tournament, they are CHF 1000, 800 and 600. There are also special prizes. Check out the image below for more details.
