Before this event, we interviewed GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly at the conclusion of 2nd Dole Trophy Pasino Grand Aix Masters 2025. In the interview he talked his beautiful final round victory among other things.

A total of 196 players including 16 GMs, 20 IMs and 2 WGMs took part from 31 countries across the world. The nine-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Initiative Pro Schach e.V. from 2nd to 10th August 2025 at Kulturzentrum "Alte Schmiede“ in Dortmund, Germany. The time control was 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
