Di Li wins XIII Lorca International Festival 2024, Vignesh N R second
GM Di Li (CHN) scored an unbeaten 8/9 to win XIII Lorca International Festival Group A Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. GM Vignesh N R scored sole 7.5/9 to secure second place. Vignesh also remained undefeated. GM Alexis Cabrera (ESP) edged past three more player on tie-breaks to finish third. The top three prizes were €1500, €900 and €700 along with a trophy each. The five-day nine-round Swiss league rating tournament was organized by C A Lorca with the collaboration of the City Council of Lorca, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the Chess Federation of the Region of Murcia and the Spanish Chess Federation at Hotel Amaltea **** in Lorca, Murcia, Spain from 26th to 30th December 2024. Amardeep finishes tenth
The 13th edition of Lorca International Chess Festival 2024 witnessed the participation of 195 player - 77 in Group A Open and 118 in Group B (<2100) from a total of 15 countries across the world. GM Vignesh N R drew with the eventual GM Di Li (CHN) in Round 5. Former National Amateur Below 2300 Open champion, CM Amardeep S Bartakke is the only other Indian to make a top ten finish. He scored 6/9 to secure tenth place. Miguel Alvarez Morales (ESP) won Group B with a 6/7 score.
A total of 77 players including six GMs and six IMs took part from 13 countries across the world in Group A Open category. The tournament was organized by C A Lorca with the collaboration of the City Council of Lorca, the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, the Chess Federation of the Region of Murcia and the Spanish Chess Federation at Hotel Amaltea **** in Lorca, Murcia, Spain from 26th to 30th December 2024. The nine-round Swiss league Rating tournament had a time control of 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.
