Bharath Subramaniyam H dominates 6th El Llobregat Open 2025 with a 2685 performance
GM Bharath Subramaniyam H scored an unbeaten 8/10 to win 6th Elllobregat Open A 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the field. GM Cristobal Henriquez Villagra (CHI) and GM Brewington Hardaway (USA) scored 7.5/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was €36000. The top three prizes were €5000 + trophy, €3500 and €2500 each respectively. The top seed of the event, GM Pranesh M scored 7/9. He edged past eight others on tie-breaks as he had the better tie-break score. GM Raja Rithvik R is the only other Indian to make a top ten finish. He scored 7/10 to finish tenth. This is Bharath's second tournament triumph of the year and both of them are big ones.
Bharath clinches big again
Four players - GM Pranesh M, GM Bharath Subramaniyam H, IM Marius Deuer (GER) and GM Jakub Seemann (POL) were the leaders 7/9, heading into the last round. Bharath defeated Jakub to become a clear champion. Pranesh lost to GM Brewington Hardaway (USA). The former finished fourth and the latter third. GM Cristobal Henriquez Villagra (CHI) won against Marius to secure second place. Bharath won $20000 (then ≈ ₹1744600) and now €5000 (≈ ₹527895). In total, he won ≈ ₹2272495 from winning two events in 2025. It certainly shows that Bharath and his team, not only makes great decision on the board but also off it too. He is going to start his final round battle at Wroclaw Chess Festival 2025 in Poland in a few minutes as of this writing.
Bharath - Jakub, Round 10
GM Jakub Seemann (POL, 2503) neglected the development of his queenside knight when he went 19...Qg6 against GM Bharath Subramaniyam H (2573). 20.Ng2 Bd6? another mistake 21.Bf4+- White already got a substantial advantage. 21...Ng5 22.Bxg5 Qxg5 23.Rfe1 Ra7 24.Re6 Rd7 the knight remained at b8 for the rest of the game and eventually it fell due to tactics. He needed to develop his knight either on 19th or 20th move, after that it became too little too late. Bharath won the game and the tournament. This is Bharath's second major tournament triumph of the year after he won 53rd World Open 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

The tournament took place at Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona in Spain from 28th November to 8th December 2025. The time control was 90 minutes/40 moves + 15 minutes/end + 30 seconds increment per move starting from move 1.
