Advaith and Siddhi win Karnataka State under-9 Open and Girls 2020

Advaith Prabhuraj and reigning National under-7 girls champion Siddhi Rao win the Karnataka State under-9 in Open and Girls section respectively. This was Advaith's first State title. He scored an unbeaten 8.0/9 and finished a half point ahead of the field. Both Among Bisht and Sathvik Adiga scored 7.5/9, they were placed second and third respectively as per their tie-break scores. Siddhi bounced back after suffering a loss in round 4 and scored 7.0/8 to win the tournament. Rudra Rajeev and Lakshmi Sahasra secured second and third position with a score of 6.5/8 and 6.0/8 respectively. Advaith and Siddhi dominate the field

Advaith Prabhuraj and reigning National under-7 girls champion Siddhi Rao are the Karnataka State under-9 champions in open and girls respectively. Advaith scored an unbeaten 8.0/9 and finished a half point ahead of the competition. Both Amogh Bisht and Sathvik Adiga finished at 7.5/9, they were placed second and third according to their tie-break score. Despite suffering a loss in round 4, Siddhi Rao bounced back by winning the next four rounds and clinched the championship by scoring 7.0/8 and finished a half point ahead of the field. Rudra Rajeev scored 6.5/8 and she was placed second. Five players finished at 6.0/8, Lakshmi Sahasra secured the third position according to her tie-break score.

This was Advaith's first State title, while Siddhi had won both State and National under-7 championship in 2019. Both of them hail from Bengaluru.

The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Miju, Marketing Manager, Mall of Mysore. Prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mrs. Vijaya Ramesh Master International Athlete, represented India 18 times and got 14 medals, participated 3 times in World Master Athletics Championship, distributed the prizes to winners. Other dignitaries who were present were Mr. Pramod Raj Moree, Joint secretary UKCA. Mr. Sheshadri L, former Mysore district Secretary, Mr. Nagendra M, Vice president UKCA. Mr. Suresh Kumar J delivered the vote of thanks.

 

Total 144 players including 93 in open and 51 in girls participated in this three-day tournament organized by Mysore Chess Academy from 17th to 19th January 2020 at Mall of Mysore, Mysore, Karnataka. Total prize fund ₹33600 was distributed among the prize winners.
