AICF World Cup Qualifier R12-14: Iniyan takes sole lead 10.5/14

GM Iniyan P ended the previous day's co-leader GM Gukesh D's unbeaten streak at the AICF World Cup Qualifier. Iniyan scored his most important victory of the event so far in Round 14 to take sole lead 10.5/14. He still has to overcome the challenge of the in-form IM Rithvik Raja R, IM P Saravana Krishnan and GM Deep Sengupta on the final day to earn a place in the upcoming FIDE World Cup 2021. Gukesh is just a half point behind the leader 10.0/14. He still has a very good chance to finish at the top. IM Raja Rithvik R, GM Sethuraman SP and GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly is at sole third, fourth and fifth place with 9.5/14, 9.0/14 and 8.0/14 respectively. Iniyan ends Gukesh's unbeaten streak

GM Iniyan P started the penultimate day of AICF World Cup Qualifier with a victory over IM C R G Krishna, then he lost to GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly but he immediately bounced back and beat the tournament leader Gukesh with a fantastical technical play in the endgame.

Iniyan has taken the sole lead at a very crucial time 10.5/14

GM Gukesh D started the day with a victory over IM Nitin S who blundered in a seemingly equal position. Then he made a comfortable draw with IM Aditya Mittal in Round 13 before losing the last round of the penultimate day against Iniyan.

Gukesh is just a half-point behind the leader 10.0/14

IM Raja Rithvik R continued his impressive run in the tournament as 2.0/3 today without conceding a single game.

IM Raja Rithvik R will face Iniyan tomorrow in Round 15

GM Sethuraman SP had only two games because of a mandatory Bye as per tournament regulations. He scored 1.5/2

Sethuraman is now at 9.0/14

GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly's woes continued as he started the day with a loss against IM Aditya Mittal but then won the next two games and Iniyan and GM Narayanan S L.
