30th Abu Dhabi Masters R5: Leon Luke Mendonca in a three-way lead

GM Leon Luke Mendonca defeated GM Lorenzo Lodici (ITA) to stay in the lead after the fifth round of 30th Abu Dhabi Masters 2024. Leon had a back and forth battle which could have gone either way. The Italy no.3 made a one-move piece blunder which cost him the game. Leon, GM Volodar Murzin and GM David Paravyan are in a three-way lead 4.5/5 each. 13 players are trailing them by a half point 4/5. There are five Indians among them - GM Pranav V, GM B Adhiban, GM S L Narayanan, GM Bharath Subramaniyam H and GM Raunak Sadhwani. Muthaiah draws with Ivanchuk, Five Indians in pursuit

IM-elect FM Goutham Krishna H's fantastic unbeaten streak came to an end. He lost to one of the leaders - GM Volodar Murzin. IM Muthaiah Al drew with the legend - GM Vasyl Ivanchuk (UKR). GM Aravindh Chithambaram bounced back with a win over FM Banh Gia Huy (VIE). IM Jubin Jimmy defeated GM Aditya Mittal.
