भारत का नेशनल जूनियर शतरंज चैंपियनशिप हर वर्ष कुछ नए चेहरे और प्रतिभाए लेकर सामने आता है । अगर पिछले वर्षो के इतिहास देखे तो हर बार कोई ना कोई नया नाम विजेता बनकर सामने आता है । इस बार भी भारत को दो नए राष्ट्रीय चैम्पियन मिले । बालक वर्ग में दिल्ली के 20 वे वरीय आराध्य गर्ग और बालिका वर्ग में छठी वरीय महाराष्ट्र की श्रष्टि पांडे नें इस वर्ष का खिताब जीतकर सभी को चौंका दिया । यह दोनों प्रतिभाशाली खिलाड़ियों में तो हमेशा से गिने जाते है पर यह खिताब अब उन्हे नई पहचान दिलाएगा । बड़ी बात यह की ये दोनों खिलाड़ी अभी फिलहाल इंटरनेशनल मास्टर भी नहीं है जबकि प्रतियोगिता में कई टाइटल खिलाड़ी खेल रहे थे । अंतिम तीन राउंड में लगातार तीन इंटरनेशनल मास्टर को पराजित करते हुए आराध्य नें खिताब हासिल किया तो श्रष्टि एक अंक की बढ़त के साथ अंतिम तीन राउंड में 2.5 अंक बनाते हुए खिताब जीतने में सफल रही । इंटरनेशनल आर्बिटर जितेंद्र चौधरी की रिपोर्ट

The National Juniors 2018 came to an end in New Delhi from 28th November to 6th of December 2018. Top three players from both open and girls section will represent India at the World Juniors to be held next year in India! The winner in the open section was Karthik Venkatraman, the top seed, and the only GM in the tournament. In the girls section Sakshi Chitlange won the event by a half point margin ahead of Aakanksha Hagawane and Vantika Agarwal. A lot of people and organizations including All India Chess Federation (AICF) have contributed to the growth of the sport in our country. While we all know the role played by R.B. Ramesh, India's national coach, in creating super talents, there is one person who is quietly uplifting the chess culture of the country. He is a grandmaster from Ukraine and he is responsible for creating six grandmasters from India! Know about this phenomenal coach who believes in strengthening the basics of each of his students.

We can officially call him Mr. Commonwealth. Yes that's how common it has become for Abhijeet Gupta to win the Commonwealth Championship! This is his fourth title in a span of five years! Abhijeet Gupta's sole lead at the Commonwealth Chess 2017 was short lived. In the penultimate round he drew his game against Tejas Bakre. This allowed two more players Aleksandar Wohl and Vaibhav Suri to join him in the lead. The trio now lead with 6.5/8 with the final round to go. Three time Commonwealth Champion Abhijeet Gupta was up against the overnight leader Vaibhav Suri on the top board. Abhijeet played a fine game of chess to overcome his opponent and wrest the sole lead. With two rounds to go, Gupta is all set to become the Commonwealth Champion for the fourth time in five years. 20-year-old Vaibhav Suri beat Aravindh Chithambaram to clinch the sole lead at the Commonwealth Championships 2017 going on in Delhi. Thursday was a double round at the Commonwealth Championships currently taking place in Delhi. We are now past the halfway mark in the tournament and we have five leaders with a score of 4.5/5. GM Abhijeet Gupta will be the top seed at the Commonwealth Chess Championships 2017 which are being held from the 3rd to 11th of July 2017 in Delhi. The Open event witnesses the participation of 15 GMs and 14 IMs. There are 15 different categories ranging from under-8 to under 20 in both open and girls section. Players from 15 countries have come to participate in the different events.
