Three golds each for Mitul, Dhyaan and Ameya

A moment to remember

Winning a medal while representing India is a moment a young player will remember for a long time. At the Commonwealth Schools Chess Championship 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 25 Indian players earned that moment. India finished with 42 medals: 24 gold, 13 silver and 5 bronze. Across Standard, Rapid and Blitz. CM Mitul K H, Dhyaan Patel and Ameya A R led the way, winning gold in all three formats.

U-17 Open Gold: Mitul CH

Mitul’s Standard tournament did not go entirely to plan. Playing in the Under-17 Open section, he lost his second-round game. With only seven rounds in the event, there was little room for another mistake.

He responded by winning his next five games. That took him to 6/7 and the gold medal. He also won the Rapid and Blitz titles, completing a memorable tournament with three golds.
