Unbeaten Girinath Wins CAPA 6th International Open by Half a Point

Starting as the top seed with a rating of 2287, Girinath P.D.S. produced the tournament's only unbeaten 8/9 score. He opened with six consecutive victories before drawing his seventh-round game against Devnath Bijesh. Girinath then returned to winning ways in Round 8 before drawing his final-round encounter against Ayyappan P Santhana Prabu.

IM Girinath P.D.S. started with a FIDE rating of 2287 and finished with 8/9.

IM Girinath finished with 8/9 points.

Ayyappan P Santhana Prabu finished second with 7.5/9.

Vijay Shreeram P scored 7.5/9 points.

Ayyappan and Vijay Shreeram finished on 7.5 Points

Girinath's consistency throughout the event kept him at the top of the standings despite strong challenges from several young players. Ayyappan P Santhana Prabu finished second with 7.5/9. Ayyappan remained unbeaten across all nine rounds, including a half-point against the eventual champion in the final round. His only half-point before that came in Round 6, against Devnath Bijesh. His 7.5-point score was enough for second place on the tie-breaks. Vijay Shreeram P also scored 7.5/9 to claim third place. The Tamil Nadu player recovered strongly after a loss in the third round and went on to score wins in Rounds 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9, with a draw against CM Samaksh Ashok in Round 7.
