Vignesh's third rating tournament triumph of the year
GM Vignesh N R made a perfect start by winning eight games in-a-row. He had a half point lead over the competition. IM Hari Madhavan N B was the only player trailing him by a half point at 7.5/8. Vignesh drew with Hari as it was enough for him to become a clear champion. Hari secured second place. IM Harsh Suresh defeated Saisarvesh S to finish third.
A total of 629 players including 3 GMs, 8 IMs and a WGM took part from all over the country, one from Canada, Egypt, South Korea, and two from South Korea and the USA each. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Warrior Chess Academy at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 22nd August 2025. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
