First rating tournament triumph in over six years
FM Syed Anwar Shazuli scored eight consecutive wins. He was 8/8 heading into the final round. The sole pursuer was Nirmal L 7.5/8. They drew their game and Syed became a clear champion, Nirmal third. IM FT Harikrishnan A Ra defeated Srihari K R to secure second place.
The tournament was inaugurated by the organizer - Mr. Kannan P, Secretary, ABCCC, FI Dhanasekar K and Secretary, Coimbatore DCA.
Mr. KPK Selvaraj, President, Tirupur DCA, Er. Sivan Balsubramaniam, Secretary, Tirupur DCA, Mr. Rajendran R, Treasurer, Tirupur DCA and Mr. Kannan P, Secretary, ABCCC attended and distributed the prizes at the closing ceremony.

A total of 414 players including an IM took part from various states across the country in this one-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by KPK Chess Academy and ABCCC at Shri Kamatchi Amman Kalyana Mandapam in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu on 3rd December 2023. The time control of the event was 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
