Pentala Harikrishna, the winner of the fourth edition, was present during the opening ceremony to show support to his friends and compatriots. Futures

For the first time, the futures section has all girls participants. There have been many women's round-robin tournaments, however it is quite possibly the first time that a Futures section of a chess festival has all girls players. The average age of the players is only 13 years.

Innovative Draw of lots continues

Organizers continued a very nice idea at the Draw of Lots which they started last year. A participant from the Futures group is called to choose an envelope which contains a photo of a player from the Masters group. The Masters player comes and draws their number. They are paired. At the end of the event, the pair with the highest score will be awarded trophies. This is a beautiful idea which will certainly inspire the Futures player and also create good memories for the Masters participants.

Pairings and Schedule

The Round-Robin tournaments will take place from 26th February to 7th March 2024. Every day except the last round, games will start at 3 p.m. local time, 7:30 p.m. IST. Monday 3rd March is a rest day. The ninth round game on 7th March will start at 11 a.m. local time, 3:30 p.m. IST.
