Indrajeet Mahindrakar wins a double at 2nd Super Knights Rating Open 2024

Indrajeet Mahindrakar, FM Isuru Alahakoon (SRI), S Sivathanujan (SRI) and Pesandu Rashmitha Liyanage (SRI) scored 8.5/10 each at 2nd Super Knights Rating Open 2024. Indrajeet won the tournament due to better tie-break scores. The remaining three Sri Lankans were placed second to third according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was LKR 1120000. The top three prizes in the Classical event were LKR 150000, 100000 and 60000 along with a trophy and medal each. Indrajeet won the Blitz Rating event scoring a perfect 9/9. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. Indrajeet clinches Blitz with a perfect score 9/9

Apart from Indrajeet winning the tournament, WIM Tejaswini Sagar and her younger sister, Siya Sagar scored 8/10 each. They secured fifth and eighth place respectively. Indrajeet's last tournament triumph before this was also in Sri Lanka back in October 2023.

A total of 507 players took part from various parts of Sri Lanka, five from India and one from Singapore in this fiv-day ten-round Swiss league Rating tournament which was organized by Super Knights Chess Academy at Samanala Hotel - Thalawathugoda in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 19th to 23rd April 2024. The time control for the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
