Indrajeet Mahindrakar wins a double at 14th Ethugalpura Rating Open 2024

Indrajeet Mahindrakar scored an unbeaten 9.5/10 to win 14th Ethugalpura Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. G W D M Dabarera (SRI) scored 9/10 to secure second place. A A H M B Senarathne (SRI) was placed third scoring 8.5/10. The total prize fund of the tournament was over LKR 1200000. The top three prizes in the Classical event were LKR 150000, 75000 and 50000 along with a trophy and medal each. Indrajeet won the Blitz Rating event scoring a perfect 9/9. He finished a full point ahead of the field. C U Hettiarachchi (SRI) and C C Weerasinghe (SRI) secured second and third place scoring 8/9 each. Indrajeet clinches Blitz with a perfect score 9/9

Indrajeet Mahindrakar was the sole leader 9/9, heading into the final round. He was a full point ahead of the rest. A draw was enough for him to become the champion. That's what he did against A A H M B Senarathne (SRI). This is the second time in 2024 when Indrajeet won both tournaments including Blitz with a 100% score. Earlier in April, he won 2nd Super Knights Rating Open 2024 in both Classical and Blitz events.

C U Hettiarachchi (SRI) and Indrajeet Mahindrakar were coleaders 8/8, going into the last round. Indrajeet defeated Hettiarachchi to become a clear champion with a perfect score 9/9. The top three prizes in Blitz was LKR 50000, 30000 and 20000 along with a trophy and medal each.

Indrajeet Mahindrakar scored a perfect 9/9, finished a full point ahead of the rest and gained 25.8 Elo rating points

A total of 1005 players took part from various parts of Sri Lanka and two from India in this five-day ten-round Swiss league Rating tournament. It was organized by Knights Flame Chess Club at Blue Sky Hotel in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka from 20th to 24th December 2024. The time control for the tournament was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment.
