Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad wins Leelavathi Memorial 1st Rapid Rating Open 2022

IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad won the first online edition of Leelavathi Memorial Blitz Open in 2020. A little over two years later, the first Leelavathi Memorial Rapid Rating Open was also won by him. He remained undefeated on both occasions. Both Dhulipalla and IM Kushagra Mohan scored an identical 8/9, including seven wins and two draws. They secured the first and second place according to tie-breaks. Six players finished with 7.5/9 each. Out of them, Anustoop Biswas was adjudged third. Dhulipalla's second triumph of the year

IM Dhulipalla Bala Chandra Prasad won his second tournament of the year. His first triumph was in the first week of January at Srikakulam in a Rapid Rating Open 2022. He has had a second place finish at 9Sportz Rapid Rating Open and secured third place at 20th Sautron Open 2022 in France. 12-year-old CM Md. Imran was the youngest finisher in top 10. He scored 7.5/9 to secure seventh place. WCM Vyshnavi Chinnam was the highest finisher among female participants. She scored 7/9 and was placed tenth.

A special thanks to FA Ammineni Uday Kumar Naidu, Joint Secretary of Andhra Chess Association and Deputy Chief Arbiter of the tournament, for sharing photos and info about the tournament.

 

A total of 300 players including 4 IMs and a WIM took part from various parts of the country and one from Sri Lanka. The two-day nine-round Swiss league Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Knight's Castle Chess Academy at Delhi Public School Amaravati in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh on 15th and 16th October 2022. The time control of the tournament was 25 minutes + 5 seconds increment.
