Sathwik's fourth overall, Aditya's first tournament triumph of the year
Nyna Gorli made a brilliant start by winning eight games in-a-row in Rapid Rating Open. Three players - the reigning Andhra Pradesh State Junior Open 2025 champion, Sathwik D S S U, Sravyasree Bheemarasetty and Vamsi Krishna R were trailing by a full point at 7/8 each. Sathwik defeated Vamsi to win the tournament. Sravyasree won against Nyna to secure second place, Nyna finished third.
In Blitz Rating Open, FM Aditya Varun Gampa was the sole leader 7.5/8, going into the final round. Six players - Arav Baid, Sri Akhil Prasad, Eswar Sai Akhlil Ch, Sathwik D S S U, Ram Charan Teja Majji and Bhaskara Ratna Shanmukha Reddy Alluri were trailing by a half point at 7/8 each. Aditya drew against Sri Akhil to become the champion. Eswar lost to Arav who finished second. The winner of the Rapid Rating Open, Sathwik won against Nischala Y to claim third place.
The tournament was graced by eminent dignitaries and special invitees, whose presence added immense prestige to the event: Mr. Shankar Bharathi Bagchi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Ms. Kolagatla Alana Meenakshi, Woman FIDE Master, Mr. Dasari Surya Prakasa Rao, Vice Chancellor of DSNL University, Mr. R Venkateswara Rao, Chairman, RVR Group, Mr. Seshagiri Rao, President, Waltair Club, Mr C Bala Satish, Secretary, Waltair Club and Mr. Kankatala Mullikarjuna Rao, Kankatala, attended the inauguration ceremony. Vice Chancellor and Commissioner of Police inaugurated the tournament in presence of Alana Meenakshi, from Visakhapatnam. Mr. A Suresh, President, Andhra Chess Association presided the function. While addressing the gathering, the Commissioner of Police assured all support for the chess players of Visakhapatnam from police side.
Prizes were distributed by Mr. M V Ramana, Founder and Chairman of CMR Group, Mr. A Suresh, President, Andhra Chess Association and Mr. K V V Sarma, Founder and Chief Advisor of Andhra Chess Association.

A total of 329 players took part from all over the country. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament was organized by Andhra Chess Association at Waltair Club in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on 30th and 31st August 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
