Mitrabha, Murali Krishnan and Koustav are the winners of 44th Olympiad Celebration Rating Open events

During the 44th Chess Olympiad, four Olympiad Celebration Rating Open tournaments took place. Two Blitz events were won by GM Mitrabha Guha, IM B T Murali Krishnan won the Classical one and IM Koustav Chatterjee won the Rapid event. A total of 986 players, 235 in 1st Blitz, 284 in Classical, 239 in Rapid and 228 in 2nd Blitz Open took part from various parts of the country, Bangladesh, Norway, Uruguay and USA. A total of ₹1300000 prize fund was distributed combining all four events. Mitrabha alone won ₹97000 cash and a trophy, he also increased his Blitz Rating by 24.4 points. Mitrabha wins both Blitz events

All India Chess Federation organized four Rating tournaments parallel to 44th Chess Olympiad for various chess aficionados. Players from all over the country and various parts of the world participated in these events to gain elo rating points, win prizes and most importantly, enjoy the game of chess.

GM Mitrabha Guha scored eight straight victories and gained a full point lead heading into the final round. A draw was enough for him to win the tournament, that is what he did against Ram S Krishnan in the final round. He also gained 10.2 Elo rating points in the process. The total prize fund was ₹300000. Top three prizes were ₹50000, ₹40000 and ₹30000.

B T Murali Krishnan clinches the Classical Rating

IM B T Murali Krishnan scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 and finished a half point ahead of the field. IM Ratnakaran K scored sole 8/9 to secure the second place. His sole loss of the event was against the eventual champion. Three players scored 7.5/9 each. IM Ramnathan Balasubramaniam was adjudged third according to tie--breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. Top three prizes were ₹60000 and a trophy, ₹50000 and ₹40000 each.

Mitrabha wins the 2nd Blitz Rating Open

GM Mitrabha Guha, IM Rajesh Vav and IM Srihari L R scored an unbeaten 8/9 each. They were placed first, second and third respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. Top three prizes were ₹40000 and a trophy, ₹30000 and ₹20000 each.

Koustav Chatterjee triumphs at Rapid Rating Open

IM Koustav Chatterjee scored 8/9, remained undefeated to win the Rapid Rating Open. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Four players scored 7.5/9 each. Sai Vishwesh C and IM S Rohith Krishna were adjudged second and third according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹300000. Top three prizes were ₹50000 and a trophy, ₹40000 and ₹30000 each.

The one-day nine-round Swiss league Blitz Rating tournament was organized by All India Chess Federation at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Engineering & Technology, Mamallapuram on 30th July 2022. The time control of the tournament was 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment.
