Sri Lanka's Premier Chess event 2nd Queenstar Open 2024 starts in a week

GM Deepan Chakravarthy won the inaugural edition of Queenstar Rating Open 2023. IM Raahul VS became the Champion of the Blitz tournament. The second edition of the event will take place from 27th April to 1st May. It boasts a total prize fund of LKR 2.3 million (approx. ₹634800). The entry fee is FREE for all players rated above 1900. There are special conditions being offered for foreign players with a rating higher than 2400. The tournament registration closes in two days on 22nd April. As of now 213 players including a GM and two WIMs have already registered. This April play Classical and Blitz Rating tournaments in Sri Lanka

A total of 382 players including 2 GMs and an IM participated from Azerbaijan, India, Indonesia and various parts of Sri Lanka took part on the first edition of the Queenstar International Open from 16th to 20th April 2023 at Sri Lanka. This year, the Queenstar Open will take place from 27th April to 1st May. There are special conditions provided for foreign players rated above 2400. They will be provided accomodation with full board facilities! Additionally, GMs. IMs, WGMs and WIMs with rating higher than 2400 (2100 for women) will be provided a travel grant of LKR 35000 (US$ 100). The tournament entry fee is free for all players rated above 1900!
