MCA invites you to 1st Meghalaya International GM Open 2023
Meghalaya Chess Association invites you to 1st Meghalaya International GM Open 2023. The inaugural edition is offering a first prize of ₹301000 and a total cash prize fund of ₹3001000. A total of 82 prizes including 40 main prizes are up for grabs in Category A. Entry is FREE for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIMs. Only rated players are eligible to play in Category A. The Category B has the total prize fund of ₹1001000 with the first prize being ₹100000. It is for players rated 1599 and below. Category A
Schedule
The tournament will take place at SAI STC Indoor Sports Stadium in Shillong, Meghalaya. Category A games will be held from 12th to 20th December 2023. There are double rounds on Thursday 14th and Saturday 16th December 2023.
Prizes
The total prize fund is ₹2000000 in Category A. There are 40 main prizes. The top three prizes are ₹301000, ₹201000 and ₹150000 each respectively. There are three prizes in each of the following categories: Best Female, Best Veteran (Above 60 years), Best Meghalaya, Best Northeast and Andaman, Best Unrated, Best 2299 and Below, Best 2199 and Below, Best 2099 and Below, Best 1999 and Below, Best 1799 and Below, Best 1599 and Below, Best 1399 and Below, Best Uner-15 and Best Under-10. Eligibility and Entry fees
Only Rated players are eligible to play in Category A. Entry is free for GMs, IMs, WGMs and WIM. Check out the image below for all entry fee details and last date for submissions.
Rules, Regulations and Accommodation
The tournament will have ten rounds and it will be played in Swiss League. The time control of the tournament is 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1. Default time will be 30 minutes. Category B
Schedule
The tournament will take place at SAI STC Indoor Sports Stadium in Shillong, Meghalaya. Category B games will occur from 12th to 20th December 2023. There are double rounds on every day except on the last day 20th December 2023.

The total prize fund is ₹1001000 in Category B. There are 40 main prizes. The top three prizes are ₹100000, ₹75000 and ₹50000 each respectively. There are three prizes in each of the following categories: Best Unrated, Best Female, Best Under-15, Best Under-12, Best Under-9, Best Meghalaya, Best Meghalaya Female, Best Meghalaya U-15, Best Meghalaya U-10, Best Below 1400, Best Below 1300, Best Below 1200, Best Below 1100, Best Veteran (Above 60 years), Best Northeast and Andaman, Best Northeast and Andaman Female. Only players having the career FIDE rating of 1599 and below for the last three years are eligible to play in Category B. Players who secured first and second place in any rating restricted events for the past one year on the date of start of the tournament, are not eligible to participate.
